This piece suffered, a LOT. Time was against me and i had to repaint that filigree 4 times. I believe it’s important to support the difficult pieces, because my time still went into this and I enjoyed some parts...the beetle especially! :) Fruiting Bodies is now available via WOWXWOW’s “Nocturnal Bloom” show. Conservation and consideration for the natural world are always on my mind, and as such this piece was inspired by the persistent problem of oil spills affecting our land and water. The ecosystem, while able to survive the aftermath of a spill, is forever stunted. Humans are often able to ignore the underlying problem when selectively observing the beauty nature still has to offer, thus developing a complex relationship with this issue. I wanted to present indicators of unhealthy oily water whilst putting emphasis of the magnificent ibis, who in itself represents the splendor and fragility of the natural world.

This is a fantastic anthology gathering over 40 artists to bring their storytelling to the next level. Through image and text, each artist creates a world of their own featuring a fantastical creature. Fantasy, horror, mystery and sci-fi are all introduced in this wonderful series.

These guys did an incredibly job curating the last two books; I'm thrilled to be able to further explore this idea on such an incredible platform.

One Dies, One Grows | Mixed media | 8" x 8"

Pulling inspiration from the earth below our feet, this piece portrays the cycle of energy dispersal. Trapped in a repetitious and unending sequence, the death of one gives life to another. Detritus gives way to scavengers, giving way to hunters. Hunters become the hunted, and their bodies dissipate back into the earth. Tethered to their roles through the thirst of survival, such order promotes the wealth of life as it exists today. When one dies, one grows strong.”

This piece will be a part of a exhibition titled Super Reverie, opening online May 4th. It will only be available until the end of the show, and then will go up for auction at Dragoncon later this year. Site in the comments!
