Originally from Latvia, I have been living in New York City for the past 8 years.
I took my first yoga class over 10 years ago and right then I knew I will be doing yoga all my life. After coming to New York I have been trying out different styles of yoga: Ashtanga, Vinyasa, Bikram and Iyengar. Working a sales job, yoga helped me a lot to manage the stress that came with it. We are a yoga-based community, seeking a Kitchen Manager to oversee a commercial kitchen in our Yoga Retreat Center. We are inviting persons to apply with the ability to lead and train staff and volunteers.
The ideal candidate should have vegetarian and gluten free cooking experience. Meals are usually prepared for 30-45 people and 50-60 during the summer months, buffet style.
This position will consist of cooking, scheduling, purchasing, and overseeing all areas of the kitchen.
Monthly stipend starts at $800 and includes room and board, as well as the Ashram core program: daily morning and evening meditation with Yoga-Vedanta studies, Hatha Yoga and Sanskrit classes, plus concerts and cultural events.
