How to squat....
SQUAT:[BREAKING AT HIPS VS. KNEES‼️]

Regardless of the squat, Low-bar, High-bar or Front squats, the movement should always be initiated by breaking at the hips. Breaking at the knees first can cause an excessive amount shear force on the knees due to loading it too early on in the movement which can potentially lead to knee issues over time for the majority of people.
In addition, breaking at the knees first usually results in the load being distributed in front of your mid-foot [center of mass] and can at times bring your heels off the floor during the lift, especially if you lack ankle mobility.
Now, in order to squat more efficiently breaking at hips first is ideal, GENERALLY! Let me mention here that the severity of the hip-hinge will depend on the type of squat, and the individual's structure/ restrictions. For example, Low-bar vs.High-bar vs. front squat. long femurs vs. short femurs, tibia length, etc.
Furthermore, breaking at the hips first typically allows you to keep the bar over your mid-foot, bar path straight up and down. Unlike breaking at the knees first, where it's mainly going diagonally towards the front of the feet and will lead to less efficient bar path since you have to get it back over your mid-foot every time.
NOTE: The more experience you become the better you will get at doing it simultaneously, and that should be the goal in the long run🏃🏽. As for beginners I would encourage them to focus on breaking at the hips first and the rest will follow.
