Happy World Photography Day!
Some images from my recent trip to Italy. Some are digital infrared and the rest are conventional. The black bands framing some are to facilitate posting on Instagram (follow me there at .marg), which likes square images best. More to come
Some additional images from Iceland, both conventional and infrared.
A few photos from the first few days in Iceland. Some conventional and some infrared. Enjoy - there will be more!
Spending some time on vacation playing with a new toy and brushing up on old skills to create some digital infrared photographs. I'm still a bit rusty, but I'm pretty happy with the results.
Several new mandala images; one of them (the one with lots of blue) is from one of my mixed media art pieces. It gives a different kind of effect that I quite like! (You need to click on the image to see the full frame.)
Come see this exhibit if you can (capacity is limited, so call ahead). I have 5 small art pieces in it, but all of the other work is interesting too. Shop for Christmas!!
Current and Past Exhibitions at Art Intersection | Art Intersection Art Intersection has curated and juried photography exhibitions throughout the year
I am so excited to have 5 of my Mandala and Medallion images selected for the Little by Little exhibit at Art Intersection in Gilbert, AZ, which will open November28 and run through January 2, 2021. Check in with http://artintersection.com/ for details on the exhibit and how you can see and, if you like, purchase the work. I'm beyond thrilled with this, part of my pandemic art project!
Mandala-like images created from one single image multiplied and manipulated to achieve the end product. Click on each image to enlarge and see the fine detail.
More images from the beach -- patterns, trash (natural and human-made), and a sunset with birds.
A couple of abstract or whimsical photos from the first two weeks at the beach.
My best attempts at photographing the Super Moon this week. The first night wasn't fully dark so I couldn't really get any definition until the moon was too high to include any ground detail, but I love the detail in the moon. The second night I got ground detail but the moon is slightly out of focus because of a longer exposure and the movement of the moon in the sky. But I like them anyway. (Click on the photos to see the full image.)
While sheltering in place I've been creating artistic versions of some of the photographs from last week's trip to Bartlett Lake.
And, because it's what I do, an artistic twist on one of the photos taken at Bartlett Lake.
Just a little something creative, almost accidental -- but isn't that how some of the most fun things happen?
Took a little drive out of town today (not far, but far for me....) Promise of spring to come.
We have had snow and cold weather in Arizona this week. I haven't been able to get out and get close but I have a relatively long lens on my camera and got this shot of snow on Four Peaks from my balcony.
Something about being at the beach has made me want to do more manipulated images. These are originally infrared images from an environment very far from the beach but somehow have a kind of beachy feel to me after a little (or a lot) of work (click on them individually, because the way they are shown skews the proportions badly. Grrr.)
A couple more artistic flowers from this weekend's trip to the botanical garden.
I've been spending some time on Coronado Island CA relaxing and watching boats, but also visiting nearby San Diego, primarily Balboa Park, where there are abundant photographic opportunities. Here are a few of my favorite. Note that the occasional modest artistic post-processing may be involved.
Although I love fireworks just as they are, because digital magic is what I do I couldn't resist.
During my recent trip to Bulgaria I borrowed a camera that had been converted to make infrared images. I loved it and am quite happy with the results.
