Have you ever reached big milestone that shifts you to be more introspective?

I'm talking something big like turning an age that ends in zero, getting out of debt, or having a child.

This is what happened to me when it came to planning and recording episode 100 of my podcast.

Not only did I start to question what episode 100 should be, but also what content I even want to be making.

I've stopped and started my podcast up again multiple times since recording episode 1 back in 2014. I've done plenty of interviews with video creators and taught a bunch of what I've learned running my video business the last 6 years.

I tend to focus most of my YouTube videos on specific pieces of video or photo gear because that is what I think will get me more views, which leads to audience growth, more affiliate income, and more course sales. And for the podcast I feature other creators to share what is possible to accomplish with online video, but also to potentially reach some of their audience as well.

I already run two profitable businesses, the first making videos for clients and the second being SwitchPod, and each equate to a full-time job themselves a lot of the time. This means the hopes, dreams, and plans for my free content and paid courses business always ends up being a third wheel.

And what I earn from it is also the least of my 3 income streams, so it gets the least amount of attention.

So why am I putting so much pressure on myself to make it "the thing" or compare myself to other creators online?

Spent a bunch of time in the studio last week taking new product photos for and put them all over the Shopify site I redesigned at SwitchPod.co. Used constant lights (two .lighting 120D’s and a Tri8c) because we filmed some looping videos at the same time. Painted a couple wooden boards I got from Home Depot with some matte paint that recommended. helped a ton. Swipe to see a few of them. 🤙🏽

I’m back home from visiting the factories in China and am going through all the photos and videos from the quick trip there and back. Can’t wait to edit and share a few videos about how the first 10,000 SwitchPods are getting made.

I’ve posted a lot of IG stories about the trip too if you haven’t seen them yet.

Today we visited the final assembly factory for to do quality control on the first 10,000 plus units. It is still so surreal to know that two years ago I had an idea with to make something from scratch and now there are people employed in another country to make our product come to life.

I’m in China this week going to all the factories where is being made & we just visited the packaging factory. These are 10,000 plus boxes we will put SwitchPods in to ship all over the world.

What started out as a quick thought, a complaint really, about a piece of video gear I was frustrated with has turned into something much bigger, with over 5,000 people supporting it with their dollars and has brought me to the other side of the world. Still just trying to take it all in and document the journey.

That’s a wrap on VidCon 2019! I’ve been going for the last five years as a video creator, trying to meet and learn from other YouTubers but this year was way different. Instead of going to talks, panels, and meetups I worked the booth showing my invention to hundreds of creators.

Having people try a physical product in person and being able to give them a demo, put their camera on top, and get an excited reaction is re-energizing me even more to think of new products and ways to help people reach more of their audience and share their message, art, and voice.

VidCon has been a blast so far. We’ve shown to hundreds of people, some of them Kickstarter backers and plenty that have never heard of it before. We’ve definitely got our elevator pitch down by now. 😊

The coolest part is just hearing what people think. “So smart.” “The handgrip feels great.” “Can I buy one?”

While I really wish we had inventory ready (coming in September!) and I know we would have sold way more at VidCon, just being able to raise awareness and show it to more people was an incredible experience. Last day at , let’s go! @ VidCon 2019

In the final stretch behind the scenes we’ve been building our own online storefront, working with retailers to get SwitchPod on their sites, testing & finalizing the last prototypes & material decisions before creating molds, and communicating with our backers about what to expect next. It’s been an amazing two month public start to and & I can’t wait for what’s to come. 🤙🏽

One of the best parts about making SwitchPod has been all the other creators I’ve been able to meet or collaborate with for the first time. It has also pushed me out of my comfort zone to reach out and ask more then I normally would.
