Did you know that teeth can be implanted to restore eyesight? This procedure was first done in 1960!
Did you know your teeth can tell stories about you? They can say how old you are, what you have eaten, and even where on Earth you've lived!
Did you know the mint flavor for toothpaste is used to override the bitterness of most flavors? It also helps with fresh breath!
Did you know 1/3 of your tooth is underneath your gums? Only 2/3 of your teeth are visible! This means it is important to take care of your gums, just as well as your teeth.
Here is your reminder to floss today and everyday if you haven't!
Make sure to replace your toothbrush every 3-4 months, or sooner if the bristles have become frayed or you have suffered a cold or flu!
Using fluoride toothpaste can help to repair damage to your teeth. It is important to get regular dental checkups to ensure that your teeth are healthy and well taken care of!
Bad breath can be a sign of gum diseases or other issues. If you experience bad breath often, ask your dentist at your next appointment about what might be causing it!
Make sure that you're not only brushing, but also flossing your teeth! Flossing helps remove the plaque between your teeth that a toothbrush can't reach, and it's an important step on the road to healthy teeth!
Tea, coffee, and red wine can all stain your teeth. Swishing some water around your mouth after drinking these can help to combat stains!
Visiting the dentist regularly helps prevent dental diseases! Even if you don't notice anything unusual, getting regular check-ups can help to catch issues such as cavities or gum disease and get treatment right away!
Brushing your teeth after eating an acidic food can actually damage your teeth's enamel. Acidic foods, such as oranges, grapefruits, and lemon, can weaken your enamel and cause brushing to damage your enamel further. Wait 30 minutes to protect your pearly whites!
Don't neglect your tongue! Plaque can also build up on your tongue. Not only can this lead to bad mouth odor, but it can lead to other oral health problems. Gently brush your tongue every time you brush your teeth.
What do I do if I crack my tooth? For a cracked tooth, immediately rinse the mouth with warm water to clean the area. Put cold compresses on the face to keep any swelling down. See your dentist as soon as possible.
If your teeth hurt when you drink hot or cold beverages, you may have sensitive teeth. This can be the result of tooth decay, fractured teeth, worn fillings, gum disease, worn tooth enamel or an exposed tooth root due to gum recession.
Even if you don't have any symptoms, checkups are important because they can help prevent problems from developing and treat existing symptoms before they become more advanced.
Does your mouth have spots or sores? If there's something that doesn't look or feel right in your mouth, we should examine any mouth sore that lasts a week or longer.
Try to limit time spent snacking! Making better choices can help control your calorie intake and give cavity-causing bacteria in your mouth less leftover food to snack on as well.
