Happy Anniversary Greater Grace Church Manila.
The Core of Worship
God created us to be with Him. In the creation story we read about God bringing things into existence from nothing. Sky and mountains, oceans and trees, lions and lambs, all creation found itself in relation to God. Last of all Man and Woman awoke thankful in the enlivening presence of their Creator.
God designed life to bring us close to Him, and in that connection to find enjoyment and inspiration. When we chose selfishly to leave the Presence, He did not leave us alone but stitched into the tapestry of this life a design, one that would break us down and humiliate. Not because He glories in our humiliation but because there is no glory, no exaltation, no substance outside of His presence. Life is designed to bring us close to Him.
This to me is at the core of worship. When I recognize the purpose of life, that I am broken and shadow, but God is present with glory to spare and I step into the light of Him again. Here joy will flow and my humiliation will fade into inspiration.

The salvation of God does not stand on human logic, it stands on the sacrificial Death of Jesus. We can be born again because of the Atonement of Our Lord. Sinful men and women can be changed into new creatures, not by their repentance or their belief, but by the marvellous work of God in Christ Jesus which is prior to all experience. The impregnable safety of justification and sanctification is God Himself. We have not to work out these things ourselves; they have been worked out by the Atonement: The supernatural becomes natural by the miracle of God; there is the realization of what Jesus Christ has already done—“It is finished.”
What is God doing when you are in a bind? When the lifeboat springs a leak? When the rip cord snaps? When the last penny is gone before the last bill is paid? what does God do? He fights for us. He steps into the ring and points us to our corner and takes over. “Remain calm; the Lord will fight for you” (Ex 14:14).
His job is to fight. Our job is to trust. Just trust. Not direct. Or question. Our job is to pray and wait.
God's goal isn't to make you happy but to make you His. His goal is not to get you what you want; it is to get you what you need.
The secret to continual victory is to respond by faith even when our feelings don't legislate response. Faith allows us to respond even when we don't understand the suffering of His Plan. This pleases and honors God. It is a way of casting a vote of confidence for Him.
Knowing one’s own uselessness alone is still useless. The important thing is to know the power of God. And this is true resurrection. God had wanted Moses to know that it was He who had made man’s mouth. God tried to encourage Moses. “Oh, Lord, send, I pray thee, by the hand of him whom thou wilt send” (Ex. 4.13). Moses again excused himself. When God heard this, He was angry with Moses. And why? Because even though it is of great importance and highly acceptable to God that we are brought to the place of no self-confidence and no self-reliance, nevertheless, if we stay there and refuse to go forward by trusting in God, we will greatly displease Him.
We long for eternity, but there is so much commotion, activity and noise in our world that that longing is often drowned out. Help me to break through that madness with the message of Christ today.
If anyone is still bothered by his past sins and has no rest in his conscience, let him sing the following hymn.
Why should I worry, doubt and fear? Has God not caused His Son to bear My sins upon the tree? The debt that Christ for me has paid, Would God another mind have made To claim again from me?
Do you know that all you need is the crumbs from the Lord's table for all your problems? Mark 7:24-30
Through suffering, we come out stronger, not because of our faith, but because we see God deliver us in mighty ways.
O cleansing Word, O precious Word, Your promises are true;
They keep and purify my heart; Your truths are ever new.
An example of faith was found on the wall of a concentration camp. On it a prisoner had carved the words:
I believe in the sun, even though it doesn’t shine,
I believe in love, even when it isn’t shown,
I believe in God, even when he doesn’t speak.
I had no vision of heaven or of angels, I had nothing. I was as dry and empty as ever, no power or realization of God, no witness of the Holy Spirit. Then I was asked to speak at a meeting and forty souls came out to the front! I came to realize that God intended me, having asked, to simply take it by faith, and that power would be there. I might see it only by the backward look, but I was to reckon on the fact that God would be with me. - Oswald Chambers -
I thank God for my handicaps, for, through them, I have found myself, my work, and my God. —Helen Keller
I have held many things in my hands, and I have lost them all; but whatever I have placed in God’s hands, that I still possess. —Martin Luther
