Rob Hall Billiards
Welcome to the page of Rob Hall Billiards.
Huge thanks to the Billiards players in Grimsby for a great evening at the exhibition I played last night. All good guys and really enthusiastic about the game.
Special thanks to Mike Dowling for organising.
After a long weekend on the baize I’m delighted to have won the double in Woking. On Saturday I defended my English Matchplay title (short format) winning it for an 8th time. I also won ABC-3 on the Sunday, my 45th in total.
Thanks to the EABA for organising these events and to Woking Snooker Centre for hosting us.
Next stop is Grimsby for an exhibition on Tuesday evening and then onto Vienna Thursday to captain England in the ‘Four Nations’ event.
I’ve spent a good few hours today planning and creating these graphics to give players a simple guide for spotting the cue ball for long losers.
I hear the phrase ‘I’m struggling to see the half ball angle’ a lot from players when playing and coaching. This is for those players.
When you’re in hand and the object ball is on the white line you need to spot where the white ball is shown in the ‘D’. The same rule applies for the red and yellow lines and balls.
If the object ball is sat between the coloured lines you adjust the spotting of the cue ball accordingly in the ‘D’.
I’ve uploaded three graphics, one for each pocket and one with those two overlayed.
As always I’ve done these FOC in the hope it will help players develop their understanding and skills of our beautiful game.
Enjoy.
I’ve just created this simple visual guide to help players (particularly beginners and newbies) spot the cue ball for centre line long losers. I feel it would help as spotting the cue ball incorrectly will almost certainly end with a missed shot.

You won’t be disappointed!!

Just hitting the practice table for the last time before heading to the 2023 World Billiards Championship.
I’m really looking forward to this one at Landywood Snooker Club. A great venue for what promises to be a great event over the next week.
All the players appreciate the work that the guys at World Billiards have done in the run up to this event and we thank you.
Massive thanks to my sponsors at Eco Footprint and my tip partners at Straits Billiards.

May the best man win 🏆
I’m very happy to have won EABA ABC #2 in Halifax yesterday. It was a new venue for us at Halifax Snooker Club which is a bit of a novelty these days but it was a great day.
I played some great players on my way to winning, Allan Scott being one of them and it’s great to have him back playing regularly. He’s a pure natural talent and an excellent cueist.
I came up against Nathan Mann in the final who is much improved over the last few seasons and has become a very consistent performer. Nathan started the match well but I managed to rustle up a break of 495 to put the match to bed and claim my 44th career ABC.
Thanks to all for organising, officiating and hosting the event and as always massive thanks and appreciation to my wonderful sponsors Eco Footprint for their continued supporter, also a shoutout to my tip partners at Straits Billiards.
These are selling like hotcakes….
The feedback has been immense….

I’ve got a slot for coaching that has become available on Friday 6th October from 11:00-15:00.
It’s the last slot I have before the World Championships start on 14th October.
Drop me a message if you want to book it.
Thanks.
I’m so pleased to get my hands on the Whitworth Masters trophy again today after claiming victory in Darley Dale.
I played some solid billiards over the weekend culminating with a 860-283 win in the final over the super talented Peter Sheehan.
It was great to be back at the Whitworth Centre and playing at a venue steeped in history.
I would like to express my thanks to the organisers and officials for hosting this prestigious event and giving the players a great playing experience.
Lastly and by no means least a huge thank you to Eco Footprint for their wonderful sponsorship and support.
Next event is ABC #2 in Halifax on 8th October….
I’m very pleased to have ended up in the winners circle after what was a very long day at Cueball Derby for the first ABC event of the English ranking season and my 43rd career ABC win.
There was a big entry and I came through a loaded top half of the draw to take victory.
I need to give a big shoutout to Barry Russell for reaching the final after several nice scalps along the way. Hopefully this will give him the inspiration to push his game to the next level.
Massive thank you as always to my sponsors at Eco Footprint. Your support is hugely appreciated.
Much love ❤️
That’s a wrap….
What an amazing week we’ve had here in Winnipeg. 42 hours of coaching completed and every player has gone away happy with improvement in technique and also with clear scoring strategies. The feedback has been great and the complements hugely satisfying and appreciated.
It was, as anticipated a long and tiring week but everyone (including myself) has enjoyed every minute.
I would like to thank all involved at Winnipeg Veterans English Billiards League that had made this week possible especially Guy Smith for making sure everything ran smoothly. You’re a star my friend.
I’ll be home in a couple of days but first I’m heading out for a big steak dinner at Rae and Jerry's Steak House 😃❤️🇨🇦
There one thing about these 12 hour days coaching here in Winnipeg….you work up a thirst.
I’m loving every minute…the players of the Winnipeg Veterans English Billiards League are an amazing bunch. It’s a real pleasure to coach players that are so enthusiastic about learning.
7:50am start to the coaching and tables are already in use 😂😂

I’ve got a Billiards/Snooker coaching slot that has become available on 16th September 12:00-16:00, I’ve got nothing available after that until late October.

Well it wasn’t to be at the JW Open in Leeds. I played well in patches but came unstuck against Mr Gilchrist. Well done to Peter Sheehan for lifting the title after some solid play. Also Martin Goodwill deserves a mention for defeating Dave Causier using his great matchplay experience.
On the plus side for me….my contact lenses felt good and comfortable after a full day on the table. This was my first event using them. Also I’d like to thank the players that purchased their Straits Billiards ParadiGm tips from me over the weekend. I hope you like them and spread the word far and wide.
Massive thanks to my wonderful sponsors at Eco Footprint for their continued support.
Next stop for me is the Eastern Counties Event in Kings Lynn and then immediately on to Winnipeg for what will be an amazing week coaching the players of the Winnipeg Veterans English Billiards League, Wvebl Winnipeg.
After two days of battle on the baize I’m over the moon to say that we (England A) won the HIBSF Home Internationals Billiards event.
It was a pleasure to captain the guys to victory.
Well done Gary Norman, Jonathan Marwoodand Ryan Mears on a great team performances…..we did it 🏆
About to start play in the Home Internationals Billiards event as the captain of the England ‘A’ team. As always it’s a huge honour. This event lasts for two days and then we play the World Billiards event at the weekend.

I’m heading up to the Northern Snooker Centre in Leeds tomorrow…
I will have available stock of the fantastic Straits Billiards ParadiGm tips with me so please come over and get yours.
See you there 😃
We had a very successful and enjoyable coaching weekend with the billiard players from the Carlisle & District Billiards and Snooker League. It was great helping the guys out and enlightening them to several aspects of the game.
Thanks to Mike Griffiths for help in organising the weekend.
I’m heading to the North West this weekend to share some tricks of the trade to the players in Carlisle. Should be a great event 😎
New video up on my website.
Thin Cannon across the balls | Rob Hall Billiards This cannon is after played too softly and ends up in a cover. Play it more firmly and across the face of both balls to work the red away from the cushion to leave a pot red for your next shot.

Forcing cannon down the side cushion | Rob Hall Billiards Here’s a video showing a cannon from a seemingly tough position. Played at a three quarter ball contact with top spin to force the cue back into the cushion to make the cannon and push the red towards the pocket.

Using side spin to alter the path of the balls | Rob Hall Billiards The video shows how you can alter and manipulate the path and position of the balls using side spin. All the three shots are played at the same contact point and at the same speed. The only variant is the side put on the cue ball. Note how different the three outcomes are.
