Finally fixed my delay pedal after two years of sitting in a drawer. Ngl, just haven’t been inspired to create electronic or synth based music lately. Guitar has been calling my heart. A good break and making absurd noises with no intention of using them usually helps 🤷♀️

Been absent for a minute on the socials, physical reality is really kicking in these days! Finally able to make some space for myself and get back to writing and preparing for the live band show at on January 1st. I’m thrilled to have my dear friend singing with us, as well as opening for !! I’ve loved their music for a while and it’s a blessing to share the stage with such brilliant people. Peace and love ❤️

I love this slightly modified ‘terminus’ patch on the Rev 2. The nostalgia is potent on this one. The delayed distortion increase makes it sound like waves crashing. Perhaps a good tone for sleeping or otherwise slowing down.

NERD BREAKDOWN
- I heard this rhythm in the shower that morning and I’m amazed I remembered. It’s kind of a Pakistani Qawwali rhythm, typically played on tabla or darbouka, where there is open accent on the ‘and of 4’ beat, and it’s sort of an even, 50-70% swung rhythm. I tried to pitch multiple bell and wood samples to synthesize a faux hybrid percussion kit, and added a four on the floor 909 groove. I love taking an ancient rhythm (qawwali groove) and reinterpreting it through a modern lense (anachronism is my favorite composition technique, whether it film or music ect). I also just really started getting into Max for live, and being able to use tons of LFO’s to randomly trigger slight parameter changes really makes the groove and sound feel ‘real’. It’s changing the decay times on samples, a device called pictchloop89 is making random ish glitches that are mimicking flams and rolls, FX changes, and more.
Contrast the ‘old school’ eastern groove with a metallic, wobbly prophet, and now we’re exploring an uncharted, hazy jungle exoplanet in our ship, perhaps stumbling upon some kind of long abandoned outpost buried deep in a gaseous ravine.
