Just back from an exhaustive trip doing teeth to the Quirindi and Tamworth areas. Congratulations to Mark Palmer and his stallion El Condo for winning the campdraft at the Sydney Royal Show. Mark is a client of NWED and El Condo had his teeth done just before attending Sydney.

For those that have never seen wolf teeth, these are a pair taken out of a quarter horse filly. As you can see the roots are about 13mm deep. Any horse prior to breaking should be examined to identify if they have wolf teeth and get them removed. This will most certainly aid in the mouthing aspect and obtain a better result. Congratulations to Rodney McKinnon on resign for winning the open draft at the Grafton Campdraft Sale on the weekend. A client of North West Equine Dentistry.

This is a photo of an old horses incisors. Where the incisors meet should be a straight horizontal line. This horse had an incisor wedge which is a very good indicator of major issues in the molars or back teeth. This horse had a very bad wave along the grinding surface the both molar arcades. Can be fixed in a younger horse but more difficult in a aged horse due to little teeth left. Have a look at your horses front teeth and if they do not meet in a nice straight line horizontal to the ground there is every chance they will have serious dental issues further back.

This a very common problem in stabled horses that do not graze enough. Locks the jaw up and not able to chew properly. Usually fixed with one visit.
