Clarion Community Theater
Clarion Community Theater is a group of people with a "lookat me, lookat me" complex.
I need an old reel-to-reel tape player -- it does NOT need to work. Actually prefer it doesn't. Could use an old portable cassette player/recorder. It doesn't have to work. I see these all over the place until I need one.
Hey, theater peeps and fans, does anyone have an old reel-to-reel tape deck or and old cassette tape recorder they're willing to part with? It does not need to work. Leave a comment and I'll get back to you. Thanks -- Rodney
The numbers from "The Odd Couple" (Female Version) are in. Total tickets sold: 356. Proceeds were double the expenses. Great show, ladies and Eric, great production, Ashley. Thank you to everyone involved.

Clarion Community Theater presents
"Elvis Has Left the Building"
Aug. 21, 22, 23 at 8 p.m.
Saturday Aug. 24 at 2 p.m.
At the Sawmill Theater
It’s December 20th, 1970, and Elvis Presley has disappeared. No one, not even his wily manager, “The Colonel”, knows of his whereabouts. But the Colonel is all shook up because he has racked up a secret debt — and with the King himself missing, the only way to pay it off is to find an Elvis impersonator (or two) within 24 hours.
Hijinks ensue as the Colonel takes desperate measures to replace a man who is irreplaceable, all while keeping the prying eyes of a nosy reporter at bay and figuring out what happened to the real Elvis.
Cast: Randy Nebel as "The Colonel;" Pam Huffman as "Trudy;" and Henry and Rodney Sherman as the Elvii (that's the plural form of Elvis): and a yet to be cast lovely woman as "Jill." Lights and sound by Linda Eisenman.
Stay tuned for more info
Thank ya, thank ya very much!
🌟Hold the phone, that's a wrap!🌟 A berry berry big thank you to each and every one who attended a show, we had some great audiences.
👀Stay tuned👀 for "Elvis Has Left the Building" coming to the Sawmill in August and have a happy Father's Day!

Character descriptions for The Odd Couple, Female Version listed below:
Leads
Olive: successful television producer- intelligent and wisecracking, with a good sense of humor- a complete slob when it comes to her surroundings- encyclopedic understanding of sports, a complete pushover for her ex-husband, a good friend
Florence: very well groomed and neat, has just broken up with her husband- takes herself very seriously, likes to clean, decorate and cook and is very good at all three- intelligent, warm-hearted (in her own way), and has no sense of humor (at least about herself) – she does NOT make jokes- sometimes makes Olive feel guilty
Supporting
Sylvie: desperately trying to stop smoking, and so sucks on lollipops or chews gum- can
get irritated with her friends, but has a good sense of humor, especially about her husband
Mickey: police officer, who is down-to-earth, plain talking, and has a good understanding of
people- can sometimes take the “police bit” too far and tries very hard to be in control of all situations
Renee: Sylvie’s best friend- can be very plain-spoken, especially when she points out Olive’s failings as a hostess, and then Flo’s- single and dating a doctor
Vera: very sweet, very nice, somewhat spacey, and, although quite smart, is often a step or
two behind her friends- very funny but doesn’t realize it- married to Harry
Manolo: handsome, very well groomed, and Spanish- every woman’s dreamdate and showers both Olive and Flo with attention- must have good comic timing, as he gets VERY emotional- sensitive and appreciates Florence’s sensitivity
Jesus: Manolo’s younger brother, also very handsome, well-groomed, excellent posture, very romantic, and he also gets very emotional, and truly appreciates Florence
Good morning, CCT! Just wanted to update everyone that the summer show at the Sawmill will be The Odd Couple (Female Version) on June 12-15. The show has 8 roles (6 women, 2 men), and rehearsals will be starting in early May. More details to come soon, but wanted you all to know the show and the dates!
Brookville Ghost Tour (Oct. 28) is looking for one female and one male to perform in one of five or six stops along the tour. Each "story" is about 10-15 minutes, performed 5 or 6 times. Need ASAP.
Good evening CCT peeps. Two bits of news to consider. One -- I was asked if there is any interest in performing a murder mystery dinner theater in Clarion in 2024. Also, 2024 is the 40th anniversary of The Sawmill Theater. I was asked if we might want to do the show we did 40 summers ago. Contrary to popular opinion, I was NOT with group then and do know what show was done or if CCT was even hatched yet. Comments welcomed...
Clarion Community Theater Off-season update No. 1
Hello CCT Peeps,
Rodney here.
“The barn” has been cleaned. Some of you have never been there and others have seen it but not lately. It was the mother of all disaster areas. We rent the space and the owner has been politely asking me to get it in order for a few years. (The photo is not from our effort but represents it)
How it got to the condition it was in and my efforts to get it cleaned up don’t matter now. It is done… and it was expensive.
It took two – yep, two – large roll-off dumpsters from Tri-County Industries, two weekends, two hired hands, a chainsaw, my brother and me to get it finished. We filled those dumpsters like playing a game of Tetras. They were packed full -- two construction site sized dumpsters, the really big ones.
There were parts of the barn buried under our old sets and props that had not been seen in 30 years. We found two toilets, dozens of paint cans, a lot of props, furniture, lumber, nails, a TV, a refrigerator, thousands of walnuts, several carcasses of critters (mummified, petrified and skeletonized), shovelfuls of critter p**p, dust, dirt and some other simply unidentified stuff. It was hot, it was dusty and the stink of the critter p**p and carcasses soaked into the skin.
It’s all gone. Several tons – yes, tons – of junk, garbage, scrap and useless crap.
The result is – we have our platforms, about half of the flats we had, most of the door flats, a wheelchair, the bar, the big box with the hidden door and some uncut furring strips. The rest is gone. If you’re wondering, “Do we have ‘X’ in the barn?” The answer now is very, very likely, “no.”
This had to be done. 2024 will be a transition year. Some new ideas, some new methods, some new people. More on that as we progress toward next year. But it is started.
Clarion Community theater kudos to alum Robert Hartman now appearing in Greenville Community Theater's production of "Noises Off" at the theater on Thiel College. It's a very fast-paced comedy and Rob is killing it in his role. CCT alum Dawn Hartman is on the stage crew spinning the entire set 180 degrees at one point. Went to see it last night. Great show.
Kudos from Clarion Community Theater to our friends at Knox Community Theater for their outstanding performance of "In-laws, Outlaws and Other People Who Should Be Shot." Saw the Saturday Night Performance. Good stuff.
Hello Peeps and Farndale cast and crew. I got the numbers today. Our 2023 show sold 496 tickets. A very good production and turn out. Plans are already being kicked around for next year with some really good ideas -- especially one idea I really like that includes Ashley and Mary Brown. But more on that later. Look for an update around mid August on several matters.
You have one more opportunity to see the Farndale Murder Mystery. Tonight (Friday, June 16) drew the largest audience yet. The ladies presented another outstanding performance. See for yourself -- 8 p.m. Saturday June 17 at the Sawmill theater.
The lovely and talented (and funny as all get out) ladies of Clarion Community Theater knocked it out of the park tonight -- fantastic show, fantastic audience. Everybody had a good time tonight (Thursday). You have only two more chances to see it. 8 p.m. Friday and Saturday nights. (June 16 and 17) Check post below for phone to reserve tickets.
The Clarion Community Theater ladies rocked this week with three outstanding performance of Farndale Murder Mystery. (Along with young Katie and not so young Eric pitching in. Did we see Ashley break character Saturday night? I think so -- Cindy gave her giggles but it fit perfectly into the scene. Great audiences, nothing but positive comments. Three more chances to see it -- next Thursday (June 15) Friday (16) and Saturday (17). The bills are paid -- MaryEllen, Cindy, Carol, Ashley and Beth put this year in the black tonight (Saturday) so it looks like Clarion Community Theater will be back next year. These ladies are doing a great show -- very proud of them. -- Rodney.
The cast had its last dress rehearsal at the Sawmill Theater -- tomorrow night (Thursday) the show is live and rockin'

Those ladies from The Farndale Avenue Housing Estate Townswomen Guild Dramatic Society are at it again as they present a murder mystery (and fashion show) at 8 p.m. June 8, 9 and 10 and June 15, 16 and 17 at the Sawmill Theater in Cook Forest.
Presented by Clarion Community Theater, the Farndale ladies include MaryEllen Stahlman, Cindy Evans, Carol Lapinto, Ashley Elliott and Beth Saylor. All of these lovely ladies have appeared in numerous shows at the Sawmill Theater and always delivery fine, and very funny, performances.
Every theater group has experienced the horrors of what can go wrong on opening night and the ladies of the FAHETG Dramatic Society are no different, with the possible exception that everything that could happen does happen.
The scenery collapses, cues are missed, lines forgotten, and the sound effects take on a strange note sometimes as the ladies present their ambitious evening’s entertainment with the cunning whodunit, “Murder at Checkmate Manor.”
And just in case the audience should get bored, there’s a Fashion Show and Murder Mystery Quiz complete with a prize. Or maybe not, depending on who is in charge.
But Mrs. Reese, doyenne of the group, rises above the slings and arrows of outrageous dramatics to save the situation and provide the final and inventive twist.
This comedy was written by David McGillivray and Walter Zerlin Jr. and is presented in agreement with Concord Theatrical.
The show is suitable for audiences of all ages. Concessions by The Wildflower Garden Club.
Box office and doors open one hour before a prompt start time. Tickets are on sale now at $15 each and available by calling 814-927-6655 or online at Eventbrite.
Hello, Peeps
Meeting of the performing theater groups tonight (April 11) with the Sawmill folks. Nothing Earthshaking, but good news in general. Groups included Punxy, Brookville, Knox and Clarion Community Theater. Those are the four local performing groups this year.
Punxy is still picking its show, Brookville is doing Grease and Knox is doing Inlaws, Outlaws and Other People who Should Be Shot. We are doing the Farndale Murder Mystery.
No major changes at the Sawmill, but there should be a new roof on by the time we get there. We're on the second and third weekends in June by the way. The cast is set as I explained in earlier post.
The Wild Ladies Flower Club.... I mean the Wildflower Garden Club, will handle our concessions as usual and we love them for that.
That's all for tonight. I'm sleepy and have to be fingerprinted in the morning. But that's a different post for another time.
