Kids are getting ready for CLUB YICKETTY YACK ... the Phonic All Stars teach the kids how to make the speech sounds. Zippy Bumble Bee shows how his sound buzzes as he vibrates his voice whilst he places his tongue behind his teeth.
We are currently on the look for Miss Mary Mouth's M-obiliser which has gone missing... maybe she will bring it to the group! Every super heroine needs an M-obiliser.
Toby Tap is back and keep an eye out for drops of water dripping from his nose...when he makes the "t-t-t" sound. His voice is off as it is a quiet sound. "t" sounds like a drop dripping on the sink.
Remember registration for the group in term 3 is closing ... as group sizes are limited.
The Countdown to the return of "CLUB YICKETTY YACK"...getting learning on track. Our program is for 10 students per term. Group 1 is Friday 9-12 for the 12 week period. Age group is Early literacy years (prep-grade 1-grade 2).

Congratulations Julia... Our winner of the Portia candle award this week!! Great effort - go girl.

You should be so proud of your outstanding improvement and dedication to excellence in learning since starting on the Phonic All Star program. Mum should also give herself a big treat for her support-efforts and interest every step of the way! Go guys.
Congratulations Bailey...one of our pigeon pair. Winning the Pure Lure Award for excellence in effort and in having a mighty heart!!!! Blew me away when he also drew the magic orb token from the treasure box to fast track a prize from the Sidney Snake treasure box. Great way to finish Friday afternoon. Keep up the awesome work.
Sire Fire...he originally was called Sire Cedar as he was the most beautiful and grand cedar tree in the forest. He grew so big as his magic berries made him immune to the strangler figs which had taken over so many other grand trees in the forest. He grew larger and larger in his desire to protect the animals that he sheltered and provided for.....that was until a dark-resentful owl that had turned to the dark side...Elvis Egg overheard a nasty rumour spread by the Vampire Bats that he tried to hang with that Sire Cedars berries were poisonous and were the cause of him being still stuck in the remnants of his shell. So he decided to cut down the tree. He got the help from the grumpy old Oggie Osteoperosis who was a builder and profited from the wood removed from he forest. All that was left that night after the chopping was complete was a poor little camp fire at the forest floor. He grabbed the wheels from the logging equipment and wheeled himself into the cave deep in the forest where he has lived for years without anyone knowing... .. that was until he was discovered by someone. I wonder who that could be?
Here's our queen and king of the castle...Joey and Sarah mastering the reading poster and the "detailed Phonic All Star Character stories". If you enter down that rabbit warren with Katrine-you get lost amongst the detail forgetting where you started. I can't help but laugh at how many kids enter the session asking specific questions based on what story they last heard. ie. "what happened to Sire Fire after he got cut down and went into the cave in the forest of mystery?" Stay tuned and all questions will be answered.
The poster used in Joey's activity has been developed to practice C-V-C word reading using all 22 vowels...not just the 10 core vowels a-e-i-o-u and long A_E_I_O_U. :)
Congratulations Matthew for winning his prize from the Sidney Snake box by earning his 12 Phonic all star stickers doing great working with your speech pathologist, Kathren. Matthews favourite phonic all star character is Hydro Hound... So a cuddle is definitely in order when you visit next. Great going buddy!!
Here is our 19 tokens winner of the Portia candle award after beating her records with her speech progress in her sessions And it is obvious in her improvement in her speech as reported by family and friends. Next week she's switching sentence for balloons.... Look out! Go Zoe, Roland and Emily. The secret ingredient is the family dedication, management and heart behind Zoe helping her all the way. X
Tip of the day!
Gaige is demonstrating how he uses his phonic all star table guide to help him to work out the sounds that go with the letters when spelling CVC words using written words and matching them to the pictures.
PHONIC ALL STAR of the week.
Xavier Ray who loves the letter "X"...his speech sound is actually a combination of the speech sounds "k" and "s". He is our secret spy and takes X-RAY pictures when he opens his jacket..."ks"..."ks"..."ks". His new sound track is available on itunes very soon...have a look for it next week.
TIP OF THE DAY:
Here Chloe demonstrates how she can now learn her sight words by making them into tactile touch cards. She is making a different card for each word (eg. wool, sand, noodles, paperclips, buttons). This way she stores in very deep touch and experiential memories of the word which will help in her recall of the letter pattern and visual memory of the word. we also trace her finger over the letters in the direction we write with her eyes closed to help store the "visual-motor" plan of the letter format.
Riley working hard to learn his letters with the help of the Phonic all star characters. He is matching the upper and lower case letters - a skill necessary to learn in prep.
This weeks feature Phonic All Star representing the letter “G” needs no introduction as he is our Rock Superstar…Gilly Canetoad. Even though he loves the sound of strumming his electric guitar on stage, his favourite sound is the speech sound “guh” as it sounds just like a canetoad croaking. Watch this space to find out how his sound is made in our mouth, listen to his soundtrack and download his colour in.
Creative ways to teach kids the letter (graphemes). This helps keeps by providing a multimodal approach that supports touch or tactile learners. Try these with your kids.
Here' s our feature phonic all star character - Lochie Lingual...lingual meaning tongue- he lifts his head up behind the rocks that look like the front teeth to make his favourite sound...l. If you want to know why he is crying...maybe you should hear his soundtrack on Carnival of Sound which arrived in master copy this week and is due to be up on ITunes next week.
Eric and his underwater creatures practicing his Phonic all star speech sounds. Great work little buddy.
Now it is here...Teach me speech sounds-eBook...or A3 manual version as well. Each consonant is taught with their Phonic All Star characters, how we make our speech sound and the Phonic All Star hand signal used in therapy...available at the clinic or online very soon.

Portia Candle loves the sound "p" and alphabet letter "P"...She is a birthday candle that does not like being blow out as she is afraid of the dark. SHe prefers her candle flame to be flickered. "puh...puh"...she says, "don't puff too rough or I might just flicker out.
Her song is available on itunes: Phonic All Stars-album 1-Cruisin' with the Consonants
