GOOD LUCK HOLYHEAD AT TODAYS TOURNAMENT

17/02/2018

A bit of sunshine tday at penrhos football pitch saw the boys come up against Treaddur Bay. Our Peibio are improving with every training session and match and it showed in today's performance. Straight from the off Deian and Luke were strong in running through tackles. Some good play set Saadi away and he crossed for luke to steer his shot just wide of the post. Couple mins later we were 1 up good passing again and the ball fell to luke who's shot looped over the keeper and into the net. The boys were confidently knocking the passes around, Daniel combining with Saadi who in turn passed to Deian, a great through ball to Jack who's shot just didn't have the power to beat the keeper. Our nxt chance fell to luke this time he picked out a shot that thumped in off the post to make it 2-0. Every attack Tbay had was stopped by the impressive back 3 of Harley, Stefan and Daniel. HT 2-0. Second half Declan on for Harley, Morgan for Luke and Tom for Kian. We set off and immediately had a chance through Jack but a good save from the keeper kept it out. Nxt chance fell to Deian who couldn't find the target. Tbay had a couple of breaks but Daniels tackling kept them away from our goal. Our 3rd goal came from Morgan some good movement and he was picked out by Deian a little scramble and Morgan fired in. Luke now back on the pitch was hunting a hat-trick and he got it another fine shot in off the post made it 4-0. More chances came but the keeper did well. Ft 4-0. Really impressive performance by all the boys tday improving with every game. Well done all.

Today we took our Peibio to Amlwch, short of numbers we agreed with Amlwch to fill in the missing gaps so Jacob, Ryan and Joe returned from his holidays. Amlwch started brightly and some nerves were shown at the start by our lads, Amlwch tricky winger started well and tested Tom in goal early on. Again the same player looked dangerous and floated a cross just evading the striker. Soon after Amlwch opened the scoring. The boys dug deep for the nxt couple of min with Harley non stop running and chasing everything. Daniel was calm on the ball and pick out Saadi down the line, his cross just missing Luke. Again another good tackle from Daniel who then passed to Deian aggressively drove forward and shot just wide of the goal. The boys were well on top now and this time Joe effort was stopped by the keeper. First 15 gone and we were getting more and more confident. A sicker punch came shortly after the second 15 kicked off, a long shot hitting the underside of our bar and the ball nestled in the back of the net, 2-0 down but playing the better football! From the restart we got back into the game a corner came in and Saadi got a touch to force it over the line. Next up Luke manged to find the target to drag us level then straight from kick off we got a third through luke 3 goals in 5 mins and we could of had more. The second 15 was good but the next 15 showed how confident the boys were, Joe knocked in a couple as did Luke the boys really went for it. Deian the newest member of the team had a really good game and looked like he'd been with us for years. He was very unlucky not to score today but his time will come. Jacob from let back went past 1, then a second and a third challenge to find himself on goal but unselfishly picked out an unmarked joe to easily find the back of the net. Ryan got our last 2 goals smashing smashing in smashing in from 2 corners. The match finished
Amlwch 2 v Peibio 11
Joe 4
Luke 4
Ryan 2
Saadi 1
Congratulations guys great display today.

Today our Peibio welcomed Cemaes Bay to the Oval. Cemaes were a mixed age group team so we knew the boys were going to have a test today. Cemaes kicked off our boys were a little slow in starting and for the first 10mins Cemaes were a danger. We had an early set back conceding to go 1-0. Daniel in defence stood up to the challenge and was solid as a rock, Stefan and Harley 2 new lads to the team settled and put in great tackles when needed. Tom in goal was now a spectator as the Peibio put the pressure onto Cemaes and a nice 1/2 from Morgan to Tyler saw Tyler smash a shot wide of the goal. Our lads grew in confidence the longer the game went on and from Declan tackle Daniel put another new player in Deian down the line, he cut inside and shot at goal only to be blocked. Saadi was on now and he showed some great footwork and picked out Morgan who was unable to shoot as Cemaes surrounded him. Any notable attack Cemaes had was stopped by either Daniel or Stefan. Halt time approached 1-0 Cemaes. The orders of a bit more tackling, we started on the front foot, Harley to Tyler who shot just wide. Daniel was told to start pushing forward more as was Saadi and both players worked up the channels and it was some superb football from Daniel who created an opportunity for Tyler who shot high, how the keeper saved I don't know but the football we were playing was quick. Deian was growing more in his first match and a strong run and pass set Tyler away but he lacked legs and got tackled just before shooting. Saadi this time ran the left channel passed inside another shot at goal and again somehow the goalkeeper tipped it over. Time running out the boys were trying everything to get the goal they deserved but unfortunately Cemaes through bodies in the way and blocked any sight at goal. The final whistle blew and even though the result was against us we were really happy with the performance of the team. The new boys have settled in and this team will get better and better each week. Man of the Match today was Daniel . Well done all see everyone at training Tuesday. 🔵⚪🔵⚪🔵 ⚽⚽

Peibio second match of the season saw them come up against Llangefni, always a difficult game. The game started and passes from both sides were either too long or too short, the first notable chance fell to Morgan who's shot just went wide of the post. Harley in only his second ever match was everywhere snapping into tackles. Chances were few and far and it was Tom in our goal who produced a finger tip save to keep the score 0-0. The second 20 Llangefni built up confidence and scored early on from a defensive mix up. Heads down we couldn't hold onto the ball and another mix up at a corner enabled a Llangefni player to poke the ball into our net, 2-0. Confidence was high for Llangefni and another 2 goals were scored. The half ended and the boys and I knew we could do a lot better. The last 20 mins we were a totally different team to the middle 20. Luke went close 2 or 3 times, big Morgan was unlucky as he couldn't adjust his feet quickly and fired just wide of the target. A goal did finally come our way, Daniel ran up the line delivered a cross to luke who's shot was blocked but it fell to big Morgan who found the corner of the net. Llangefni only had shots from distance and Steffan and Harley blocked other efforts. Little Morgan had a couple of chances but some good blocks from Llangefni defence stopped us adding to the score. The game ended 4-1 to Llangefni should the boys played the way they did in the 3rd 20 I'm sure we could of won this 1 today however we need to learn to clear our lines and not try to dribble the ball out of defence. Again some more positives to take from the game. Well done.

Today 10 of our Hurricanes made the short journey to Penrhos to play Treaddur Bay. We agreed to play 10 v 10 due to the cold and wet conditions.
The boys kicked off and immediately settled into their passing, it wasn't long before our first shot at goal was blocked by the defence of Tbay. We were playing good football but couldn't find the way through, Tbay had numbers at the back and made it difficult for the boys to create clearcut chances. However a goal cam midway through the first half, Steffan made a tackle and passed the ball upfield, Sean was onto the pass and skipped past the defender before unleashing a strike into the top corner, 1-0. A few more efforts at goal with Adam closest just wide of the post. HT 1-0. Second half we told the boys to keep the ball moving and strike earlier. It was only a minute in and Sean doubled our lead with a poke at goal which the Gk couldn't stop. Now full of confidence the boys too the game to Bay creating many chances. The crossbar kept us at 2 but it wasn't long before we scored again. Zac won a corner and played a nice lofted pass where Adam met it with a glancing header into the net, a really good goal. Osian had now moved into centre mid and was involved in numerous attacks with his crisp passing. Ryan made a fierce tackle and played the ball up to Joe who delivered a cross in front of Goal where it just evaded the onrushing Luke to what would of been a special goal but wasn't to be. Jacob picked out Zac down the line and his through ball just too fast for luke again. The final whistle went and the score of 3-0. Very happy today, a proper team performance. Well done to all today.
