It provides for recreational opportunities including walking, jogging, and hiking.
The awe inspiring Lighthouse Trail meanders and respects the coastal eco system and reflects the spirit of our community through inspirational artistic creations. This community page invites you to explore the Lighthouse Trail beyond the 2.5 kilometres that connects Tonquin Beach (the closest beach
accessed from downtown Tofino) to Middle Beach and MacKenzie Beach. Check the links for interesting
information about the Tonquin ship, First Nations culture and ecology of this coast. If you would like to add comments or photos, please click 'Like' and then you can join our community. The trail will take users through old growth forest and along the spectacular coastal headlands. The trail will include educational signage that informs users of the historical, ecological, environmental and social
significance of the area. The coastline around Tofino offers spectacular scenery of this unique and rugged terrain. Bedrock crevasse-formations, wind sculpted shoreline trees and shrubs, and first growth Cedar “monoliths” all create an unforgettable wilderness experience. The trail runs along or within close proximity to the coastline and side trails offer many viewpoints of the Pacific Ocean as well as several access points to remote beaches and small coves. In addition to great oceanic viewing opportunities the trail runs through an “untouched” section of rainforest with many large old trees.
