The sun sets on another adventurous day on tour with Absolute Nomads. Today, we traded the vast expanse of the Mongolian steppe, bristling with local life (and plenty of Yak) for the great expanse of the Gobi Desert. Our stop tonight is an oasis amidst the gravel and sand near the ruins of the Ongii Temple, or Ongiin Khiid.

As if Mongolia couldn’t get more beautiful, today we visited the Tovkhon monastery, one of the oldest in the country, and, with the help of the local monks, climbed up the rocks behind the temples for this incredible view of the surrounding countryside!
