Have you ever met someone who works hard in silence? Let me introduce you to Meghan....
When I first trained Meghan, she suffered in silence....I knew she's extremely motivated, strong and focused...Especially, when she sets her goals and takes action...NOT in mediocrity, mind you!
During this year's Swim Season, she shattered records after school and event records! It's such a joy to watch this young woman and be proud of her. She's very talented and quite popular amongst her peers, but yet, manages to stay down-to-earth.
Just this past week-end during the Coastal Conference, she broke the conference record, Manistee record and pool record for the 200-Free! She didn't stop there! She also did the same for the 100-Back and 400-Free Relay!!!
Meghan thrives on a tough work-out and that's what separates her from the other athletes I have trained.She always works harder than she did yesterday or the day before....She knows success isn't given, it is EARNED.
Let's CONGRATULATE her on a job well done!!!

Last week, I tried to prepare myself for this day...today is my Dad's birthday.
He's been gone for 2 years now, but this day and the day of his passing still paralyzes me...close to being catatonic. I fight it because I know there's so much to celebrate, but yet, this painful chasm in my heart threatens to open up and swallow me. I don't deny myself the sadness nor the grief...I let myself feel the sorrow and the loss. I cry and always wish what could have been...
I look at old photos and I call my siblings. Reminiscing, laughing and loving my family, made me realize Dad is gone from us physically...but, his legacy is very much alive in me, in my kids and my siblings.
To Dad ~ I miss your voice, I miss your hugs, your teasing, your generosity and your love for your family. I miss you dancing with Mom! I miss calling you when the kids are sick. Mostly, I just simply miss having you here with me....
I know it's 5 o'clock anytime you want it to be...so, have a wonderful time with Dr. G, Uncle Fol and everyone! Even Toby, Beavis and Moosie!!!

Two years ago, I was mourning the loss of my Dad...I didn't realize it took a toll on my body, my spirit.....pretty much my whole being. During this difficult time, with the help of my wonderful family and friends, I regained some semblance of strength...but I knew I had to do something for myself.....
Training in California, I gained the emotional, mental and physical strength I used to have. I became more aware of my purpose...which is to help others become more health conscious no matter what life throws at them.
I have learned that I can keep going, long after I think I can't.
I have learned that everyday may not be good....BUT, there is something good everyday....
I have learned that LIFE is a ONE TIME OFFER...
I WILL (do my best to) USE IT WELL.....
After an hour of Kundalini Yoga, my mind was ready to tackle something bigger.
" 'Ain't no mountain (hill) high enough..."
On the 4th set....39 ft, and still going.....
Keep your head up. Keep your heart strong.
On my first try, something in me said, "You can't"...after a deep breath,
"Watch ME!" was all I could think of....6 sets later.
PERSEVERANCE.....
Beaches are great for walking, jogging, playing in the sand...and Yoga. The waves, seagulls, and wind are all the sounds you need.
Not every work-out needs to be loud...
Enjoy where you are...live in the moment...find your balance...
find your peace...be one with nature.

No matter what you do....Spinning @ San Mateo Athletic Club at College of San Mateo, climbing the bleachers and running the track @ Carlmont High School...and lifting body weight @ your own home....Make.. time...for YOU!!!
From push-ups to planks to chattarunga....lunges to sumos to mountain climbing uphill, and spider man crawl downhill...at the park...at the gym...at CSM for Hatha Yoga....
Finding balance in life is tough enough...but, a half hour to an hour a day of exercise added to your lifestyle is more rewarding than you can imagine. Invite your friends and family to motivate you!
And...IF YOU BELIEVE YOU CAN....YOU ARE HALFWAY THERE!!!
Day 2...Found a great way to circuit train outdoors with an 11 year old as my partner!!! 8-sets of monkey bars, rope climbing, running up slides, flywheel spinner and obstacle course. Want a change of pace, visit your local playground or park and get a great work-out!!
