Learn The Fun Way
This is a page to share my experience in teaching and guiding my 2 kids in their learning journey.
For like minded parents who enjoy teaching and learning together with their little ones
It started with learning 2 words a day, but he already learned 52 words after 3 days.
He almost failed his first Chinese test, because he couldn't even write a single Chinese word. To encourage him to learn writing Chinese, I paste some Chinese words selected from his text book on the TV, so that he'll see it whenever he's watching TV. If he could write 70 words in a month, he'll get a small present as reward. He got excited after a few attempts, slowly his confidence is built and he'll ask for more words so that he can quickly get his reward.
Yesterday he finally told me he likes to learn Chinese, I was so happy to hear that especially he used to hate learning Chinese so much.
Motivation and interest are always the keys in teaching young children, use the right method and you'll see the result soon.
Is it your turn?

Children normally pick up reading at the age of 4, I've seen kids reading at 2+ too, who are considered very advanced. If your kid is still not able to read by 5, it is not too late, probably you've not use the right method. Most importantly, give your kid a good reading environment, cultivate the reading habit, let them enjoy reading. If you've done things correctly, your kid will start reading sooner or later.

Recording books he has read, every ten books read can be exchanged for a guppy fish, motivation makes "hard work" easier....
10 books for 1 guppy fish, and start it with just 2 only, that's how I lure my boy into reading.:-)
My boy is very lazy in reading, throughout the past few years, I've used all sorts of methods in getting him to read. Now, I'm packing all these books that he has finished reading to be passed down to his younger cousin, I'm shocked to see so many books!
This page was created when my girl was about 2+, very soon, she'll be going to primary school next year. She's very lucky to enroll into one of the so called "elite" school in Singapore, Rosyth Primary School, which many had "warned" me of the stressful road ahead.
I shall have more to share with you after she has embarked on her primary education journey, no matter how stressful the exams could be, be firmed on our never changing objective, learn the fun way!

Really?
Time to think.....
PSLE question weighs heavy on parents' minds That question in the Primary School Leaving Examination (PSLE) mathematics paper on Friday has upset a number of people, including parents.
Guess what is this?
I notice many of my friends' kids are wearing glasses, these kids are only about 4 -6 years old. When asked, many of them replied is inherited from parents. But I have seen many of them playing tablets or phones.
It is quite disturbing for me seeing kids playing phone in restaurant while waiting or eating food. Yesterday I just saw a little girl holding a tablet and watching a video up close to it, obviously she has eyesight problem, but her parents just didn't see it.
Stop giving yourself excuses, stop giving your child unnecessary exposure to electronic gadgets, bring them outdoor for a better hands-on experience, is our duty to protect them from young.
Have fun growing beansprouts, here's the steps :
1) soak the green beans overnight
2) put the green beans in an empty container, remember to wash the container beforehand. Fill up about 1/5 of the container only so that the beansprouts will have room to grow.
3) make 4 holes at the 4 edges of the container
4) water 3 times a day, the excess water will flow out from the small holes made in step 3
5) you can harvest it from day 4 onwards, depending on the size of the beansprouts that you want.
Story books selling at $1.90 only. At NTUC Extra
