Citizens, please be mindful of your situational awareness! We have had three recent incidents of vehicle burglaries which fit the definition of an act commonly called “jugging.” Jugging is a street term used to describe an act in which a person watches another in an effort to find opportunity to commit an undetected theft. The first incident occurred on July 24, 2018 when a victim left the Wells Fargo bank and went to Tractor Supply in the 2900 block of N. Velasco St and went inside. A black male exited a newer model white Chrysler 200 with paper plates, broke the window of the victim’s vehicle, and stole three guns from within.

The next incident happened on August 8, 2018 and involved the same suspect and vehicle description as the last incident. During this incident, the victim left Texas Dow Employee’s Credit Union and drove to a location in the 200 block of Henderson Rd. and went inside a building there. The suspect punched out the door lock on the victim’s car and stole one temporary checkbook from inside the vehicle.

The latest incident was on this past Monday, September 24, 2018 which involved a lady who withdrew a large sum of cash from the Wells Fargo bank, then left and drove to a school campus in the 1000 block of W. Mulberry St. The suspect arrived at the campus in an unknown model gray BMW with paper plates and broke the window of the victim’s vehicle. Fortunately, the victim had taken the cash inside with her, so the suspect left empty-handed.

Citizens please be aware of your surroundings, especially when visiting your bank. If you see something suspicious such as someone loitering in a vehicle in the parking lot, do not hesitate to call the police and have officers come check. Pay attention as you leave to see if someone is following you, and do not leave any valuables in your vehicle, and lock your doors. Locking the doors would not have helped in any of these cases, but you should eliminate as much opportunity as possible. If you have any information about any of these cases, please call Angleton Police Department at 979-849-2383 and reference case number 2018-001126 or 2018-001197. Stay safe!

Today we not only remember Aaron but we also honor Bethany Wines by attending the annual scholarship fundraiser fishing tourney. Aaron’s Army of Hope donated a custom rod and reel. This donation resulted in an $1100 addition to the scholarship fund. Congratulations Bonnie Allen!
