Holiday favorites Big-Band style at Palatine's Durty Nellie's Dec. 10 Jazzy Big-Band style holiday favorites and special guest Elk Grove High School Jazz Ensemble will be featured at the Jazz Consortium Big Band's performance Sunday, December 10 at Durty Nellie's restaurant/pub, 180 N. Smith St., Palatine.

We had another full house for our November gig at Durty Nellie's, complete with an awesome set from guest Schaumburg High School Band's Jazz Ensemble, generous donations for our annual Holiday Food Drive, and smokin' solos and killer ensemble playing from the JCBB! If you missed the fun, join us Dec. 10 at Durty Nellie's for more Big Band excitement, with jazzed-up holiday hits and guest Elk Grove High School's jazz ensemble!

A big Big Band "thank-you" to all the fans, friends and band-members for their contributions to the Jazz Consortium Big Band's 12th Annual Holiday Food Drive at Durty Nellie's Sunday. Every donation went to the Palatine Township Food Pantry to help those in need have a little brighter holiday.

Food Drive, Schaumburg Band, Veterans' Salute with Jazz Consortium at Palatine's Durty Nellie's Nov. 12 For a 12th year, the 17-piece Jazz Consortium Big Band will be sponsoring a holiday food drive at its 6 p.m. performance on Sunday, Nov. 12, at Durty Nellie's Gastropub and Entertainment Hub, 180 N. Smith St., Palatine.

HAPPY HALLOWEEN!

It was standing room only for the Jazz Consortium Big Band's recent gig at Durty Nellie's! There was music for all-ages, including some for dancing! The Mundelein High School Bands' Jazz Ensemble played their usual excellent set opening for us. Although JCBB director Roy Vombrack was out sick, the band carried on in fine style, with trombonist Rich Lapka handling the M.C. duties. See you Nov. 12--it's our 12th annual Holiday Food Drive! BIG BAND BIRTHDAYS: Saturday was trumpeter, composer, bandleader and raconteur Dizzy Gillespie's birthday (1917-1993). The Jazz Consortium Big Band's Dave Frohlichstein and David Katz toured with Dizzy, and we play his "Manteca" and "A Night in Tunisia."

Progressive composer, pianist & bandleader Carla Bley has died at 87. 🙁The Jazz Consortium Big Band plays her piece “Time and Us.”

THIS SUNDAY, 6pm, Durty Nellie's: With many people getting the holiday off Monday, you can come and see us and Mundelein High School Bands' Jazz Ensemble and get to sleep-in the next day! (Not that we go that late anyway!)
