The Auxiliary treated the American Legion members to an early Valentine’s Day cake and ice cream surprise at the meeting tonight. We love our veterans and are very thankful for their service to our nation.

We will soon be working with Collinwood High School in the selection of two young ladies to attend Girls’ State in June.

We are working with the City of Collinwood to place spotlights on the murals in the Wayne County Veterans Park so they will be visible at night.

We have poppies ordered to hand out Memorial Day weekend.

If you are a member, please try to come to the meetings which are held on the first Thursday night of each month at the America Legion Building.

We were very glad to have the thirty veterans and their spouses, significant others, and children who came out to the Soup, Sandwich, and Dessert Dinner tonight. We had visitors from Waynesboro and the Lawrenceburg Legion.

This was a simple way to say “Thank You” to our veterans for their service to our country.

Be sure to come by our booth tonight and tomorrow night at the Tractor Pull. We will have the best, coldest lemonade, bbq nachos, chips, and homemade goodies.

We were absolutely blown away by the generosity of the Collinwood community and the visitors that passed through our Poppy Day roadblock today. These ladies want to thank everyone who contributed, from the $100 bill to the .75 in change. All of the money we raised will be spent on our local veterans.

If you know of a homebound veteran in the southern section of Wayne County, please let us know so we can add him or her to our birthday and Christmas lists.

THANK YOU!

The Collinwood American Legion Auxiliary Unit 254 will be placing American flags on the graves of veterans buried in the south part of Wayne County this week in honor of Memorial Day. If you have a veteran whose grave doesn’t have a new flag, it’s probably because we are not aware of the death and it’s not on the lists we use. Let us know the name and cemetery and grave location so we can add it to our list. We will place over 1,100 flags this week.

Some of the ladies from the Collinwood American Legion Auxiliary Unit 254 went to Boyd Cottages Assistant Living and to Waynesboro Health and Rehabilitation today to deliver Christmas gifts, wreaths for year round use, to our veterans who reside in the facilities. We enjoyed getting to meet these fine men and to be able to let them know how much we appreciate their service to our nation.

Thank You to Jean’s House of Flowers in Waynesboro for the beautiful job you did on the wreaths.

WE NEED OUR YOUNGER MEMBERS TO COME TO THE MEETINGS!! We meet the first Thursday night of each month at 6:00, the same time as the American Legion. We have worked hard the past several years to create and update the Wayne County Veterans Park with a core of less than 10 workers. We need other Auxiliary members to help with our fundraisers. Please join us.
