Falmouth in the world spotlight as it hosts prestigious superyachts this weekend It's one of the most important and highly prestigious racing events on the British yachting calendar.
Greg sent us this picture from the ‘85 Wistarian (University of Bridgeport, CT) Yearbook. He was Junior Class President (top left) and for Arbor day they built a walkway around the Marina Flagpole (top right) on the former P.T. Barnum estate, now part of the University of Bridgeport on the corner of Linden and University Avenues.
The flagpole in question was one of the Atlantic's masts.

The Schooner Atlantic
Commissioned by New York Yacht Club member Wilson Marshall, the original Atlantic was launched in 1903. She was designed by William Gardner, one of America's foremost designers of large yachts.
Over three years of technical and historical research resulted in sufficiently detailed plans and information to enable a highly accurate and authentic re-creation.
The Atlantic's dimensions are simply incredible; over deck she measures 56 meters. Her graceful sheerline and long overhangs accentuate her grace while her waterline length of 42 meters and narrow beam are a promise of unmatched speed under sail. Her spars tower some 45 meters above the waterline and support a staggering area of 1750 m² of sail, more than two and a half times that of the already awesome J-Class yachts.
