Just been here and heard Nightingales for the first time
We’re having a record-breaking year at Knepp – and it’s only April.
Our ecologists have recorded an all-time high of 36 singing nightingales across the rewilding project, which is sensational news for this red-listed bird.
In more good news, our other rare visitors, the lovely turtle doves, have also returned to breed here for another year.
We’re hosting a research assistant from RSPB Love Nature for the summer who will try to discover how and why Knepp is supporting these birds, in the hope of saving them from going extinct here in the UK.
