Good reminders from a Maryland locale.
Pit of My Stomach We were in trouble. Lying in that puddle in the night, I felt something. It was deeper than the coldness that lowered my core temperature. It was fear.

Kayak Football was great at Walter Reed. The Walter Reed Team was monstrous. We were unable to score on them. You guys can guard my country any day. https://www.facebook.com/permalink.php?story_fbid=608544235887992&id=100001972639103
Am I a Du***ss? This is a rhetorical question, please don't bother to answer. I think I know the truth. In this instance the question is prompted by two past paddling experiences. First Patagonia adventure in 2009 and then in 2011, Nova Scotia and the Bay of Fundy. For the first trip I travelled more then 14,000 air miles 1400 land mile and kayaked less than 150 miles. In 2011 I went to Nova Scotia drove 1600 miles hiked, camped and paddled as in Patagonia and was amazed by the beauty and joy of the experience. So, why do I insist on traveling extreme distances to see amazing places and fail to appreciate the amazing places that are considerably more local?
If you have not done the coast of northern Maine, Nova Scotia or the Bay of Fundy, think about world class seakayaking that is a drive away.
There is a good article(Finding Fundy) in Adventure Kayaking about the 2013 seminar done in the Bay of Fundy.

Spent a couple of days in OC and Assateague birding. Saw two Snowy Owls, Scoters, Long tailed Ducks and Loons. But also saw some interesting water. Has anyone paddled the St Martin River. For being so close to OC it does not yet look overdeveloped. I think maybe a kayak trip to explore. Anyone interested?
It's great to be witness when a student gets their roll!
KayakTraining pool session at Goucher College 2/8/14.
First attempt at a "Dump" (after watching video by Body, Boat, Blade kayaking). Used to empty water from a cockpit after the kayaker has performed a re-enter and roll. Looks like we need more practice!

Julio, instructor/co-owner, of KayakTraining.com paddles through the mangrove tunnels of the Turner River near Everglades City, FL.
Congrats to our successful rolling and rescue students. It's a great way to start when on the first day a student gets it and looks like they've rolled a thousand times. Except for that very surprised look when they notice they are upright.
Rolling in the pool...what a great way to spend a cold winter evening!
There are still spots available for pool time this Saturday at Goucher college. Come practice your rescues, rolls, and other skills in the comfort of a warm pool with clear water! You can register using the "Schedule now" link above or email [email protected] and we'll set you up.
