English translation:
My mouth will sing of you
My heart will please you
Oh God receive the praise
What you do amazes us
In the wilderness, you send streams of water And we drink and are refreshed
The water is God's response
In the desert and battles we face
You answer us and we are very content Be praised God, be glorified

Church at Rutemba village

Photos from Najenga Hope Congo's post 19/04/2024

There are devastating flooding presently in Burundi and DRCongo affecting communities adjacent to Lake Tanganyika. Many have now had to abandon their homes and are sleeping outside in the elements with their children. Malaria, typhoid cholera and famine are already affecting the victims of the flooding. We are investigating how we can be of help given the enormity of the situation. In the meantime, please be praying for this region and particularly those affected by this disaster.

Our joy as always is seeing the impact the work in Rutemba village and surrounding villages particularly in the children. These ones will be the heart of our pre-school outreach.

Our work on the Najenga land and nearby village of Rutemba is flourishing despite the ongoing insecurity. The Rutemba Christian Fellowship Church is continuing to grow and we are looking to plant anew congregation in a locality some 5 km away in Kavimvira. We currently have 38 people in this locality already attending the church in Rutemba, and they will form the nucleus of this new planting.

Such a blessing to have fresh water! Well

20/01/2024

Thanks to the generosity of our donors and supporters, we have now completed the well project and the water is flowing. The villagers and children are so blessed to have clean water at their disposal. Each family has a card which entitles them to free water and with the new solar pumps and storage tanks, there is ample for all their needs. This water will greatly help with hygiene and nutrition, and will help in reducing many medical issues which come with poor water supply. We will also be able now to provide clean water for our pre-school and for the hygiene and nutrition classes.

In our first gift card fundraiser that was in December 2023, we raised $4500!

Not only did our friends and family receive a beautiful card that shared the amazing impact their gift would make, but the people we serve in Central Africa have been blessed and encouraged by generosity from across the world!

Thanks to so many who gave so generously, we were able to raise $890 to support the children at Emmanuel Centre; $579 to maintain and expand our agricultural projects; and $3186.85 for our general fund, which covers the immediate and future needs of Najenga Hope.

To each of you who partnered with us this Christmas season - thank you so much, and we trust that the recipients of your gift were blessed by your thoughtfulness.

Thank you again for supporting the work of Najenga Hope!

LOOK! The water is flowing! And a very unique tap I might add. For many of us, running water is expected and a very normal part of our daily lives. Not so in the Congo and many other areas in this world 🥲

Rutemba Well Update
Thanks to a number of generous donors and the great team on the ground in Rutemba, the new borehole is drilled and we are now at the stage of installing our new solar pump and related equipment. We hope to havethis equipment by the end of November, and our goal is to have water flowing through our pipes to the villagebefore Christmas. Once completed we will be able to move forward on our rebuild of the Najenga CommunityCenter and begin our hygiene and nutrition initiatives. Water is so key to all of our community outreach programs including the Pre-School. Will you stand with us to see this project completed?

Najenga Hope Society is thrilled to announce the launch of our Christmas Gift Cards!

We all have people in our lives (teachers, coaches, parents, grandparents, business associates, etc.) who are hardto find meaningful gifts for at Christmas. We would love for you to consider one of our tax-receiptable gifts as anoption!
With our online order form, you can have your gift cards delivered well before Christmas (when ordered by December 13). Each gift card is a beautifully designed card that lets the receiver know that a donation has been made in their honour to directly support the work we are doing in Central Africa.

Looking ahead 26/01/2021

We have been in Canada now for one full year. Due to the Covid virus and restrictions everywhere we have not been able to make plans for any future travel to Africa. The challenges continue in so many ways but we do know our time in Africa is not finished. Through the waiting and wondering we look forward to the time we can return there for however long it may be....

A new season 14/01/2020

As of the end of August 2019 I...we (Ray, Boss and I) are living back in Vernon B.C. Canada. It has been a challenging but right decision for us. I particularly have experienced grieving in leaving the life we were part of in Africa for 18 years. Ray continues travelling to Africa every six months or so and is connected closely with the team of people who are carrying the ongoing vision in DRC and Rwanda. [ 598 more words ]
