Yoga Dance Jam is a universal tribal gathering that taps into a rhythmically-induced state of natural flow, innate within all of us. The activation of free-form movement is one of the oldest ecstatic pathways of collective meditation. This dynamic and rejuvenating exploration, accompanied by the global rhythms and world beats of Transmorpheous, our live jam band, will release tension, generate ene
My mom and I arrived at Green Cay in the misty dawn and began our daily walk in the wet, breezy dark. The path was speckled with a few others, only visible from their iPhone flashlights. It didn't take long before the rains came, pounding onto the boardwalk, and we took refuge under a shelter where we were joined by a few other soaked companions, lamenting the heavy skies, but sharing a laugh and some Christmas songs to brighten the gray. As the storm lightened up, we strolled out again and the dusky, cumulus-filled sky began to morph. What was once dark and dense became vibrant and fiery. The sky was aflame in orange and yellow and it was all we could do but stand around in awe, literally gasping for breath and words. Just moments ago things seemed bleak, shrouded in inky darkness, and now we were surrounded by light and joy. A metaphor was in the making and we couldn't help but riff on the deeper meaning. Leave it to nature to turn a cliche into something profound.
A few years ago, I had some photos taken by a professional photographer. I’m not the first yogi to like a pretty picture. But I wondered about the outtakes. The ones that looked awkward. That showed the stuff that we don’t always want to show or see - the struggle, the pain, the imperfections.
He sent me one reject. Swipe and you’ll see it. Ok it’s not so bad, but it tells a story. I couldn't find the bind that day, I couldn't go deeper. But now I want to. Not in the pose, but in the revelations. It feels good to tell those stories and I want to hear yours, too. What's behind the exterior? It’s taken me sixty years to know that what’s on the surface rarely tells the whole story. And what I've found, is no matter how sh*tty something looks on the outside, there is always some treasure just waiting to be revealed on the inside. Real beauty is everywhere; sometimes it's just not so obvious.
Regular, everyday people are working side by side to make things better.
They are standing up for and with each other to bring peace, help, and hope.
We can have faith in difficult times. But it doesn’t mean we have to deny ourselves the discomfort or the grief.
As a breast cancer survivor I know this all too well. But really, being human is all you need to know about all the suffering and joy, the loss and letting go, the being found and unbound, and the pain, jealousy, angst, ecstasy, longing…it’s all part of our collective path. No one can take away our experience. The healing part is up to us.

Before I was diagnosed with breast cancer, I had so many body parts that I just wanted to cover up, camouflage, or change. I often treated my breasts, not to mention the rest of me, with disdain. Looking in the mirror was not pleasant, unless I turned this way or that, sucked in, or pulled up. But after my diagnosis, I found a new appreciation for my body. My diagnosis gave me the freedom to ease up, loose skin and gravity be damned. Underwire bras became less important, and I stopped caring if my ni***es poked through, or if I inadvertently flashed a side b**b. I had breasts and they were precious.
Post-lumpectomy, I cried for weeks in gratitude, even as my left breast settled in like a misshapen lump of clay. But she was still here and it was all I could do but treat her with compassion and tenderness. Touching and looking and loving became a daily practice, one that continuously reminds me to be grateful for my body, every single day. These days, I choose to move into life with grace and kindness, not only towards my breasts, but towards my belly, my thighs, my ass, my arms, my skin, and all the bits and pieces that are not quite the way I would've hoped they would be at 60 years old. But they are all here, and I am here. Despite all of its rippled flesh and saggy skin, scars and divets, my body is beautiful, unique, and inspiring in all it's been through and all it can do.
And so is yours.

One of my favorite deep dives into self-care is spending time with my best friends. I had the luxury of doing just that over the past few days and it was one of the most nourishing weekends I've had in a long time. Yet it wasn't the delicious dinners, the decadent massage, or the daily sunrise walks on the beach that made it so nurturing (we could've spent the whole time in the hotel room!) It was the continuous laughter, the inside jokes, the knowing and trusting, the intimate conversations, and the unconditional love that made it so rejuvenating and life-affirming.
This is the same kind of wonderful, nectarful feeling that I get when I'm on a yoga retreat, and the experience is always enhanced when I go with my besties. So if you're feeling the urge to amplify your own self-care, grab your favorite person (or people!) because we've got a few more spots available on our luxurious retreat to Miraval Resort and Spa, May 2 - 5, 2024. DM me with questions and details!

Contemplation, inspiration, meditation, call it what you will, just go do it. Time to yourself for some honest introspection is so necessary for our personal growth and it only serves to better our relationships with each other. Find a little corner of your day to be quiet. Close the door. Turn off the devices. Go out in nature. Breathe. Be patient. Listen. Be kind. That's it.

When we touch, we satisfy one of our most basic primal needs. Touching helps us to feel accepted and cared for and we can practice deeper connections with each other by cultivating positive, kind, and loving intentions even before we touch. Want to lower your stress levels, feel more relaxed and alert, and up your levels of well-being? Give a hug, hold someone’s hand, and give the gift of touch.
Physical contact represents one of our deepest connections to the world and to ourselves. Human touch lowers blood pressure, heart rate and stress hormones, and it reduces anxiety by boosting positive moods and triggering the release of oxytocin, the “love hormone,” which leads to a greater sense of well-being. Join me in an experience of connection with someone you love, in a couples massage workshop, this Saturday Dec 9 from 4-6pm
We'll dive into intention and breath even before we touch and everyone will have a turn to give and receive. Come for the fun, the love, the sublime gift of touch, and a chocolate meditation at the end! The healing is right in your own hands.
Connection is about so much more than just using your hands. Our relationships are deeply enhanced by mindfulness, intention, lovingkindness, and even the way we breathe. I am excited to share the skills of touch in an experiential workshop for couples on Saturday 12/9 at
If you are craving a deeper connection with someone you love, come join me to learn about the power of your own touch. In this workshop, based on the teachings of Thai Yoga Massage, you will learn a simple and accessible sequence of massage, various qualities of touch, and how to use your intention and breath to enhance your connection. Wear comfy clothes and socks and bring your partner, best friend, or loved one - you will both get a turn to give and then receive.
