A place to share observational data from the Northern Great Lakes Visitor Center. Monitoring is done by students & faculty of Northland College.

BACKGROUND: The Northern Great Lakes Visitor Center with assistance from Northland College and the Wisconsin DNR is monitoring the long-term health of this wetland. NGLVC Prescribed Fire 06/05/2015

NRS347: Sustainable Forest Management class took a break from the woods to watch the NGLVC prescribed fire. The goal was to reduce reed canary grass density for tree planting. The future canopy should shade out the invasive and restore this area to wet forest.
