Hunza Gilgit Social Welfare Organization Joins Hands with Community Police to Commemorate World Environment Day
Ali Jiwani, Gilgit, June 11, 2024 – On June 9, 2024, Hunza Gilgit Social Welfare Organization (HGSWO) in collaboration with the Community Police celebrated World Environment Day with fervor and dedication at Ali Jiwani. The event witnessed active participation from the esteemed local leadership of Ali Jiwani, who engaged in a meaningful tree plantation drive and an enlightening awareness rally.
Led by the visionary Chairman of HGSWO, Mr. Karim Rozik, alongside the dedicated team, the event commenced with a symbolic tree planting initiative aimed at enhancing the greenery and ecological balance of the region. Noteworthy members of the Board of Directors, including Mr. Ezzat Ullah and Mr. Qizil, as well as representatives from the maintenance committee, Gul Zada and Arif, delivered impactful speeches, emphasizing the importance of environmental conservation and sustainable living.
The highlight of the event was the insightful address by renowned social activist Safdar Khan, whose words resonated deeply with the audience, inspiring them to take proactive measures in safeguarding the environment for future generations.

We Hunza-Gilgit Social Welfare Organization are deeply saddened about the tragic accident involving a bus from Marco Polo Transport Company. The bus, en route from Rawalpindi to Gilgit, met with a severe accident at Yaskul Guner Farm area of Chilas in Diamer District, Gilgit-Baltistan.
According to the Deputy Commissioner's office in Diamer, the accident resulted in the heartbreaking loss of 20 lives and left 23 passengers injured. It has been reported that a technical fault in the rear wheels caused the bus to lose control and plunge down a hill.
Our thoughts are with the families and friends of those who have lost their lives in this devastating accident. We also pray for the swift and complete recovery of all those injured. May the souls of the departed rest in eternal peace. Ameen.
On behave of Hunza-Gilgit Social Welfare Organization we are thankful to the Rescue 1122, police officials, and local volunteers who worked tirelessly to assist the victims of this calamity.
In light of this tragedy, we urge authorities to rigorously inspect and maintain the safety standards of all vehicles, particularly those operating on long-distance routes such as from Karachi to Gilgit. It is crucial that we enhance our efforts in road safety to prevent such heartbreaking events in the future.
We urge all travelers to take extra caution while traveling and hope for safer journeys for everyone in the future.

Hunza Gilgit Social Welfare Organization Hosts Successful Cricket Tournament
Hunza Gilgit Social Welfare Organization, in collaboration with SMS Cricket Club, recently organized a thrilling cricket tournament. The event witnessed the participation of 31 teams from various jurisdictions, adding an exciting flair to the season. The pinnacle of the tournament was reached as the final match unfolded between Jiwani Youngsters and SMS Cricket Club, with SMS Cricket Club emerging as the victorious team.
Gracing the event with their presence were esteemed individuals including Chairman Hunza Welfare, Tariq Aziz, alongside Ex-Chairman Moula Madad Qizill and Babar Junaid. The board members, Mushtaq Ahmed, and Member Board of Advisory, Mr. Karim Rozik, had the honor of being the chief guest for the final tournament. Mr. Rozik not only announced a generous donation for the Hunza Welfare organization but also provided valuable advice to the youth, encouraging their participation in other constructive activities.
Mr. Moula Madad Qizill, a Member of the Board of Advisory and Ex-Chairman, expressed his heartfelt appreciation for Hunza Welfare and SMS Cricket Club. He commended their efforts in engaging the youth in healthy activities through this exciting tournament.
Hunza Welfare has been serving the community in an admirable manner, and they aspire to continue their legacy of dedicated services. The Pak Hunza Gilgit Social Welfare Organization is a not-for-profit voluntary institution working for the welfare of the people from Hunza residing in Karachi through education, health assistance, skill development, socio-economic empowerment since 1964.
