“Established in 1720, licensed in 1776”- Barnsboro Inn is New Jersey’s oldest bar (arguably). It was packed and the weather was terrible, so I had a great evening, but not a lot of pictures. This puts me at 25 state’s oldest bars plus DC. Half way to the finish line!

Just across the street from the “landing place of William Penn” (see last picture), is the oldest bar in Delaware. Also, one of the great beer destinations in the world. The atmosphere is wonderful, the food is terrific, the staff is insanely knowledgeable and the beer selections are overwhelmingly amazing! This is definitely in my top 5 bars ever!

Kelly’s Logan House is the oldest continually family owned Irish Restaurant in America. It was built in 1864 and purchased by the Kelly family in 1889. Originally named after General Logan, the man who helped institute Memorial Day, the place was a place of respite for Irish people coming to America. It has a wonderful history, beer, food and live music all right in Trolley Square.

The Block House, the oldest part of the Robinson House is the oldest surviving structure in Delaware. It was constructed in 1654. It is located in Claymont, just a short drive to the middle of nowhere from Wilmington.

Reynold’s Tavern, built in 1737, is another candidate for oldest bar in Maryland, also in Annapolis. Make sure you find your way to the basement pub (entrance around the side of the building, or make the tiny staircase.

Especially in this older part of the country, there is debate about which is the oldest bar and/or restaurant in the state. But the Middleton Tavern is definitely one of the oldest and more famous bars and restaurants in Maryland. A great location right in the square overlooking the water. Don’t just try their special brew, but stay for some great food too!

The Maryland State House is the oldest state house still in use in the US. It also served as the Capitol of the US briefly. The building witnessed some of the greatest moments of the founding of the US, including the signing of the Treaty of Paris.

Alex Haley, Family and Heritage sculpture, the final 2 plaques of the Blackshear installation, the Civil Rights mural and pictures of the harbor in Annapolis. My first visit to the capital of Maryland has been great.

This is a portion of the Leonard A. Blackshear Walk in Annapolis, MD. It is designed as “A PATH WAY TO RECONCILIATION AND HEALING”.

Had a stop by this beautiful house while in DC. My first trip back in over 15 years. The last picture is a solo bench just west of the Jackson Statute in Lafayette Square (in front of his front). A little piece of now rests there. She never got to visit DC, but we had booked this trip before she passed.

Check the oldest bar in DC off the list. Just a few steps from the White House and way too crowded to get any interior photos on a Friday during happy hour. It’s one of the must stop in bars if you are in DC.

Couldn’t make a trip to DC without swinging by the Guinness Brewery.

A little more from Valley Forge. I stopped by the stone monument to spread a little of ashes. She would have loved the walk around the park.

Spend most of yesterday strolling through Valley Forge. Pics of Washington’s Headquarters.

First college football program to win 1000 games! Not the prettiest of wins but 11-0 going in Thanksgiving for the second straight year.

The Finger Lakes Region is my kinda new home. Who knows for how long? But hopefully I will get around all these lakes over the next several months.

Finally made it to my first Michigan Wolverine’s football game along with almost 111,000 other people. Big road win against a solid team; even without our head coach. Super respectful and classy fans from the opposing team. Great time and was able to sprinkle a little of Rí’s ashes after the game, so she was with me in spirit, if not in person! GO BLUE!!! **kohio

Finally went to take a peak at Lake Ontario near Irondequoit Bay.

No trip to Lake Placid would be complete without seeing the place where the happened in 1980.

Stopped by the Lake Placid Film Festival while visiting the Adirondacks.

Continuing my tour of the Adirondacks. Passed Saranac Lake and stopped in for lunch and brew at Blue Line Brewery in Saranac and Ray Brook Brewery. Friends in LA might recognize the name of the BBQ place started as a Hot Dog stand( yes, before the one in LA), unfortunately it was closed for the season. Next time!

Took a little tour of the Adirondacks this weekend. This is Tupper Lake. It was a little windy!

Final pix from our local history tour earlier this month. This is the Sacred Groove behind the Smith Farm, just outside Palmyra, NY. Again, I can’t tell you much about the history, but it was a nice walk. I am not Mormon, but I do enjoy history.

More from our local history tour earlier this month. This is the where Joseph Smith claimed to find the tablets which would found the Mormon religion. I can’t tell you much more, I am not Mormon, but I do enjoy history.

More from my local history tour earlier this month. This is the farm of John Smith, founder of the Mormon religion (apologies if I am not saying that correctly). This is just outside Palmyra New York. It was the last trip RíRá went on together.

Checked out some of the local history earlier this month. It was the last trip RíRá went on together. She had her first seizure that day.

It is with unbearable sadness that I am writing to announce that RiRa Princess Seymore passed away on 10/12/2023. She suffered a series of major seizures, brought on by a brain tumor, beginning on 10/7/2023. She fought hard to recover until the very end, but ultimately passed peacefully in her sleep at home in her favorite spot, in my arms. She began showing signs of dementia in the summer and our adventures were slowed as she required more rest and wanted to be in familiar surroundings. She continued to exercise and we went on our last walk the day of her first seizure. She was almost 15, but she was strong and healthy, always surprising people with her age, even as her pace slowed. Though we had tried for months to find a service so we could donate our bodies to science, in the end, I was unable to secure a place for her. I have decided to have her cremated and I will spread her ashes in the places she didn't get to go in her lifetime. RiRa was a well traveled dog, visiting 40 states since January 2021. We were scheduled to go to Canada for the first time yesterday to see Niagara Falls, Toronto and the Thousand Islands, as well as Lake Placid. In November, we were to go to our first Michigan football game together and then on to Washington DC, Delaware, New Jersey and a second Michigan football game. She was recently chipped and we were planning a trip to Italy early in 2024. So much was ahead of her, but also so much behind. She lived her best life and gave the love she received tenfold.

So after 218,491 miles, Bubba’s transmission failed. Fortunately, I (and RíRà) was only 20 miles from home. Bubba was taken us all over the country the last couple of years; we just got back from visiting all the New England states. No worries, I nice kick in the wallet and he is back on the road ready for more and sounding much better! Next up…Canada!

First time back in 12years. If you like Belgian Beer, I recommend you go here! There is a reason it’s been rated best in the world. If you don’t like Belgian Beer, I would recommend going elsewhere.
