Meditation helps you strengthen your mind, build willpower and connect to something bigger than you
WHY Meditate:
- access your inner knowledge
- relaxes your body
- helps you concentrate
- calms your mind
- teaches you self-control
- decrease your stress
- gives you more confidence
- trains your mindfulness
- builds up your patience and empathy
Meditation is like exercise for your mind. It requires some level of discipline to get started and persist.
Try to make it simple to start and maintain a practice. Wake up 15 minutes earlier, don't grab your phone the moment you open your eyes, instead get up, stand tall, breathe in deeply couple of times, drink a glass of (lemon) water and get to it. Find a quiet spot, sit on your cushion, close your eyes and focus on your breath.
Everyone has 10 minutes a day, you just have to find them.
It doesn't get much more beautiful than this... "Rainbow waterfall" Yosemite National Park

Understand that meditation is not something that will happen overnight or something that will be automatic from the onset. It takes time and it takes practice. Take the time to read through some books or get some audio/visual tapes to acclimate yourself with the art and practice of meditation. In this way, you will know what to expect. Start to focus on your breathing throughout the day. [ 333 more words ]

En dat is nou precies het tegenovergestelde van wat we willen bereiken als we mediteren.
