Good luck to all small businesses with enforcing discriminating mandates, dealing with fed up customers, if any, and labor issues. With a prospected loss of about 30%, easily, coupled with non existing tourism (I don’t know of any Italians, or French, willing to deal with this bu****it. And the food is a lot better there), you can count on another 30% loss on top. Kiss goodbye to all your favorite restaurants. Also, do make sure you wear your face diaper while eating and drinking, because you know, you can still spread the deadly virus. Or better yet, eat your meal in a comfy hyperbaric, sterile chamber. The hospitality business in done, dead. Good luck to all.

Just to clear out a common misconception..regardless of how you want to feel about this, when you are in the wine business, and go visit producers around the world, pretty much eating and drinking every day, all day, that’s not “WORK”. You just happen to get paid and make money for schmoozing, eating and drinking. That’s reality, take it or leave it 😊

This little gem from the beautiful village of Chorey Les Beaune, will make you realize that good doesn’t have to cost an arm and a leg. Domaine is a 5th generation domaine producing consistently delicious at more than fair price. The 2018
is a stunner! At $19 by the case, calling it a steal would be a vast understatement. Forty cases sold in the last week and only 20 remain. This is real Burgundy!!

Beautiful, super-crunchy, bright Passetoutgrain 2018 from George’s Lignier. With a little chill, and a nice piece of wild salmon, it was just the ticket tonight. A great little bargain @ $23 minus the usual 20% case discount.

Damn, this brings up memories. Like being at Nonna’s house when I was a kid in Rome. The only difference is that this wine is actually absolutely delicious!

The Duc is back! From Chateau Le Puy and the Amoreau family (100 years and counting), there is no “Bordeaux” like it. Certified organic/bio, aged in cement, spontaneously fermented, the 2018 clocks at a beautifully correct 12.5% alcohol. Who says Bordeaux can’t be made below 14.5% anymore? One of the greatest values on the planet, the 2018 soars from the glass with enticing aromas of bright cherries, hints of leather and oriental spices. On the palate, the purity of fruit is striking. With no oak to mask flaws or provide obfuscation, the energy and lift immediate. There are some fine tannins and mouth-watering acidity to balance things out. This is a superb wine to serve with a meal, as it should be. Come and get some! $22.99 per bottle, and the usual 20% off by the case (mix ok).

Very few, (if any) , Rosé are as great as When it comes to Rosé, it is the benchmark, the one to beat. Forget the “color”, this is great wine, period. The 2017 is fabulous, and will enter its window of greatness in another year. It will provide wonderful memories for at least a decade beyond that. Get some now! $33 , minus the usual 20% discount by the case (mix ok).

Great bubbles from the master himself Normally reserved for the best restaurants, we got lucky this time. 100% Chenin from 40 year old vines, fermented and aged in 9-10 year old barrels! 3g/L dosage, no malo, ..crazy good! $26 less 20% when buying cases (mix and match). at its very best, from the legendary 2014 vintage! A late release of this incredible wine from Master Pepiere and wow, what a wine it is! Salty, stony, lemony, utterly mouth-watering goodness! 100% Melon de Bourgogne. Clos des Morines is a lieu-dit in the cru of Château Thébaud. It came into Pépière world via Marc Ollivier's partner Rémi Branger, whose father farmed it two parcels of it for decades. This 1.5 hectares of vines--up to 65 years old--is on a south-facing, earlier-ripening slope. The soils are of granite de Thébaud, a granite differing from that of Clisson in containing more feldspar and clay--this means more nutrients for the vines, cooler soil temperature, slower ripening, better water retention and a porosity that allows the roots to go deep to the hard granite mother rock. Tasting this brand new arrival now. Thankfully, I don’t need to “socialize” to taste wine. A superb value from Burgundy superstar Sylvain Morey (son of legendary Jean-Marc Morey) in the . A mouthwatering blend of mostly Grenache Blanc and Vermentino, it hits the senses with a blast of sea salt, lemon rind, marzipan, white peaches and pear. Zippy acidity, medium bodies, crushed stones, savory finish. Sounds like a wonderful dream to me. Get yourself some cheese, and close your eyes. $16 by the case or when mixing 12 bottles.
