Tonight I listened to deliver this update from the headquarters of Grenada’s National Disaster Management Agency (NaDMA). The physical and emotional turmoil after accessing the devastation in Carriacou and Petite Martinique was evident in their expressions. The described the situation on our sister islands as ‘Armageddon’ and I applaud him for calling out the root cause of the upheaval of so many lives.

Actual footage of me telling Prime Minister of Grenada and MP for the Constituency of St. David, the Honorable Dickon Mitchell, all the fascinating stories I plan to tell about the parish that raised him in my new capacity as Marketing and Communications Director at .

Most of you know I am passionate about promoting Grenada, our people, and the island experience. I can officially add doing this during a hotel pre-opening to my resume! Trust me not for the faint-hearted but it feels great to be part of the global family and the debut resort in the Caribbean.

In 2023, I wrote in my planner that I wanted to work for a brand that aligned with my purpose. The Six Senses vision is to help people reconnect with themselves and the world around them. During my interview, the Head of Global Luxury and lifestyle Marketing explained that storytelling is at the core of the company’s strategy for inspiring travelers, and the focus is on not just telling stories but also actively engaging in them. That sealed the deal for me!

Significant changes and developments in our natural environment always evoke mixed emotions. A core value at Six Senses is caring for hosts and local communities and committing to preserving the environment and sustainable operations. I plan to live by this value in Marketing and Communications to the best of my ability. I also want to give a shout out to my former leaders turn mentors the Provost and Vice-Provost who continue to support me on my new journey and are shining examples of empowering the next generation of young leaders/directors.

Thank you to our hosts . Make sure you pick up or download your copy of to read my cover story ‘Living Life the Kaya Way.

Snippet:
Have you ever played hide-and-seek with a turtle? My first time was stretched across a netted deck at Villa Kaya, an eco-luxury hotel overlooking the marvellous Morne Rouge Beach in Grenada. I envied the carefree playfulness of the turtle peaking through turquoise ripples, very aware of my human presence. This was true escapism, a kind of comfort and magic as described by Craig Keller, co-owner of Villa Kaya.

When Craig, a conceptual developer, and , a passionate realtor, met and eventually married on the white sandy shores of Grenada, it was a coupling that would combine their knowledge of construction, property development and real estate to birth Villa Kaya, a curation of the experiences that define why they call Grenada home.

There are five guest suites and two waterfront villas with intimate ocean views that intertwine hotel luxuries and explorative Caribbean charm. Almost daily, I could see how Craig and Paula fulfilled their desire to sustain the culture and environment for their daughters and and future generations.

Now… for the shots that didn’t make the editorial cut. This post is for the incredible and young Grenadian team who helped me execute my vision. And most of all, more silent creatives like who has bright future ahead of him in fashion photography and who I will use my loud voice to elevate. I’m so excited to share that Vol 26 of Magazine themed the Escapism issue just landed sitting alongside the biggest publications in the world. This time it features a cover, travel feature and fashion editorial shot on location in at directed by yours truly. It’s available on their App Store, on Readly and will be nationwide on newsstands in the UK shortly.

I have always been an avid collector of fashion magazines. While other kids were spending their pennies on sweets, I saved my pounds for Vogue, Tatler, and Harpers Bazaar.

However, as much as I admired the fashion editorials and artistic expression, none of them represented the faces and imagery of my Caribbean heritage, which I admired deeply. Now, years later, it is a great honour and privilege to say that I am the Creative Director and Stylist of this cover story and fashion editorial.

Thank you to our editor, , for giving me complete creative control and the opportunity to hire some of the best young Grenadian creatives on the island without question or pause and feature only designers of Caribbean heritage.

I urge you to share this far and wide because it represents more than just beautiful imagery and fashion. It stands for showing young Grenadian creatives that their talents are worthy, and this is what it looks like when we bring our skills together to show the world just how stunning and magical we truly are.

Everyday I step with vibrancy of the Caribbean and the boldness of my people and I love wearing and representing Caribbean designers. When I got my first job in corporate, I used to step on the train and stand among a sea of black and grey suits wearing a bright pink or yellow blazer. I've always been this way and will never change! !

Throwing it back to the roundtable discussion with beautiful Grenadian singers/songwriters .francis. Their honest exchange was fuelled with real talk, sisterhood, laughter, vulnerability, empowerment and some rosé in the mix. Topics ranged from conjuring up the strength to turn a blind eye to social media criticism, the importance of a solid support system to facing sexual innuendos in exchange for promises of opportunity were shared across the roundtable. I truly admire their bravery in the pursuit of their dreams. Click on the link in my bio to watch the latest Episode of ComplexdWoman Presents… 📷

The long-awaited Episode 3 of ComplexdWomen Presents is finally live! Watch now over on my YouTube channel—link in the bio/stories.

I’m a huge supporter of talented Grenadian artists—particularly their tongue-in-cheek metaphoric ingenuity, which gives us plenty of jokes and gimmicks for Spicemas. But, I often wonder why moral criticism is harsher on female artists.

In Episode 3, I host a roundtable discussion with Pinky Francis, Sakinah Ambrose, Abby Morain Khole Baldeo, and Samantha Camilia Dickson, who share their coping mechanisms when creating new music or performing in an industry dominated by more established male artists and merciless keyboard warriors.

Featured is Grenadian Soca Artist Nicole Francis, known on stage as Pinky Fabulous. Her hit song Take Horn soared in popularity, landing her a coveted spot in the 2022 Soca Monarch Finals, making her the sole female performer out of 11 male finalists. She tells a story of passion, perseverance and the importance of women supporting each other with a vital message at the end.

In loving memory of Josiah 'Jonty' Robinson. A singer/songwriter who was never shy of the most beautiful and genuine compliments.

Throwing it back to 3 momentous days of discussing how the creative economy can be a significant driver of economic growth and development in Grenada.

We leveraged immersive storytelling to unleash a new way of thinking and challenged ourselves to create a conference that would connect with creatives meaningfully.

It was a privilege to sit on the Organizing Committee for and more powerful than I imagined to have most of my favourite creative Grenadians in one room.

I feel grateful for the newfound bonds and historical knowledge I acquired working with our creative veterans like Ricardo Keens Douglas. And a special shoutout to the fellow marketing and communications professional, comrade, and co-partner ; she can't get rid of me now, bonded for life!

Throwing it back to the first fashion editorial I directed in Grenada based on the film Castaway. In this case, the co-star wasn't a volleyball but a fashion treasure chest to glamify her pursuit of survival. We started on Grand Anse Beach at sunrise and wrapped on Levera Beach at sunset.

Recently I produced a video that had me digging up all my magazine tearsheets and feeling nostalgic. After studying fashion journalism, I'd pray for my big break on the pages of my favourite magazines. That's how it was a couple of years ago; you had to rely on magazine editors to commission your work to get your name out there. Although still relevant, you can now self-publish your thoughts, ideas, and creativity without traditional publishers or media outlets.

I have a love-hate relationship with social media lately, but there's no denying it provides up-and-coming talent with the tools to create, share and distribute content easily.

Don't sleep on this level of empowerment and access to increased visibility, opportunities, perspectives and voices. Share your work and your thoughts, as that's how you positively impact your communities and beyond.

(3/3) This week the Government of Grenada identified the Creative Economy as one of the priority areas and expressed the importance of leveraging the abundance of talent and skill Grenadians possess to produce competitive products and services. Following was great news of 100% concessions on CET and VAT for selected production equipment, such as production equipment for content creators to support the Creative Economy from February 1, 2023.

As we work together to build Grenada’s Creative Economy, we need to stick together, protect our narrative and mention each others names in rooms we are not in. While I was recommended as a local producer for the for the Holidays on Disney Plus gig, by the 2nd meeting, I suggested several other creative Grenadians for this opportunity such as , who added more via Film Company. The production had a significant and solid Grenadian/Caribbean crew, and I honestly know that’s why the vibe is so strong. We all worked tirelessly for 5 mins of magic to represent our country, so shoutout to all the awesome Grenadian/Caribbean creatives involved.

Chapter 36.

20-something Kiki would love this chapter of the book the most. It's the part of her story where she focuses further on herself to uncover her life's purpose entirely. In each line she is internally happier and healthier and cocooned by a close-knit community of family and friends, who love her unconditionally. It's also a chapter where she starts to appreciate her intuition and accept that it is her most powerful gift. A gift that she learns to trusts to guide her down the path she needs to go, even if it means uncomfortable but necessary change.

I am grateful for this supportive online community, all of the beautiful messages and for good health, which is my ultimate wealth.

The first poem I recited to an audience was Still I rise by . Her poems still uplift me to this very day.

The hells we have lived through and live through still,
Have sharpened our senses and toughened our will.
The night has been long.
This morning I look through your anguish
Right down to your soul.
I know that with each other we can make ourselves whole.
I look through the posture and past your disguise,
And see your love for family in your big brown eyes
The ancestors remind us, despite the history of pain
We are a going-on people who will rise again. 📷

‘My grandfather used to say, if you want to eat in this house, you need to learn how the food comes into this house, so I know the cocoa journey. There is a pride that comes with taking it from your land into your house and serving it to your family”. -

During making the latest vlog (link in bio), I learnt that my great granny, Catherine Darcus Pierre-Ventour worked the land in Sincere Mountain growing cocoa, nutmeg, oranges, mandarins, bananas and dashin.

Cocoa was introduced into Grenada in the late 1600s, and by 1771 it was supplying 75 per cent of Caribbean exports to Britain. Great granny was born in 1909 and by the 1920s the cocoa boom had ended.

If I didn’t experience the cocoa farm-to-table tour , I don’t think I would have been able to appreciate how hard my great grandmother worked when she went in the land, particularly when it was in decline. I also instantly became an organic Grenadian chocolate lover. Belmont Estate has a few great activities for , so I highly recommend checking it out!

To all the amazing mothers in my online community, Happy Mother's Day (USA)!

I like the proverb, "It takes a village to raise a child". It becomes more important when you accept that not every woman can be a mother, and even though some may have lost their mothers, there are many mother figures and mentors that step in.

and my mum have a very similar upbringing, and she reminds me so much of her, loving, giving and nurturing. She is a mother figure to many people and someone I am proud to call a mentor.

We are so excited to share this story with you on behalf of the Birch Grove massive. Stay tuned.
