DIG INTO MEGHANN’S WORK. ⠀ ⠀ Meghann is investigating how movement can accumulate and evolve through set rounds and repetition, creating waves of energy. ⠀ ⠀ ⠀ Nothing worthwhile in life comes easily, so the structures that the dancers endure in this work shouldn’t either. Meghann is researching the conflict between the dancer and the accumulation of movement. A conflict the dancer has to process in real-time, moment to moment. ⠀ ⠀ The accumulation showcases the dichotomy of opposing sensations in the body to expose an equally powerful internal conflict. The dancers are required to try and try again in order to get past certain choreographic structures. This demands the dancers to ride the wave or the piece becomes to physically demanding. Sensations will come and they will pass. How will we all ride the wave? ⠀ ⠀ Meghann’s research comes directly from my trust in the body and investigating how bodily experiences are deeply embedded from this life and past lives. DIG INTO SYLVIE’S WORK. Inspired by the concept of neuroplasticity and the journey of rewiring one’s patterning, the work uses circular repetition and a ritualistic care for the space to explore the universal concept of change and failure. ⠀ What does it mean to change? What does failure inside of change feel like? How does it fit on one’s skin, shape the landscape of relationships and carve the architecture of the routes we take? ⠀ Ideas of resilience and connection are central elements of the work. The performers hover, pinwheel and flip as though they are neural pathways bouncing against one another. The work is representative of a physical appetitive for cerebral orbits, a desire to interrupt the loops of the mind, to take control over our thoughts. The choreography is approached as a dynamic remodelling, a response to one’s surroundings and inner ecosystem that is rooted in resilience and grit. ⠀ Making order out of chaos is exciting to Sylvie, she is intrigued with the idea of finding quantifiable solutions to complicated questions. She uses the sensing body to somatically approach theories she finds fascinating in the world. Sylvie is especially interested in how bodies interact with one another, how they can support each other to fly, flip, spin and hover. With an original connection to the Kaeja Elevations Technique, she has a desire to dig deeply into partner work. Performers find themselves upside down effortlessly. Project InTandem
Our team has been working tirelessly and are in full swing at rehearsals. Here is a sneak peak into our lives the past few weeks. Our show has come a long way, but there is still lots of work to be done. In the rehearsal hall you HEAR shuffling feet, the sound of breath, vocal explorations, and music.
