What appears lifeless may be bursting with songs, just waiting to be heard. πΆ
The calmness of the pond is something that is overlooked from above, but pop a hydrophone in and it's a different world below.
There are so much life to be heard below this surface! π

I have been working on a project for the Sunshine Coast Council, involving the Maroochy Wetlands Sanctuary Support Group volunteers π€©, over the last few months.
We have been hitting the podcast room ππ§at the Kawana Library, recording intriguing information regarding the sanctuary which, along with environmental audio, has been used on the newly installed interactive audio boards located within the sanctuary.
I am so delighted to be part of this project and excited to share my love of the Maroochy Wetlands Sanctuary π± through my photographs and environmental soundscapes. πΆ

We love our local wetlands and we are lucky to have 2 amazing wetlands locally. These are in an area called the Blue Heart.
One of these wetland areas, Yandina Creek Wetland is 191ha of former cane land that is naturally being restored to wetlands to deliver water quality nutrient offsets. There are many bird species that have returned to the area.
The other, Maroochy Wetlands Sanctuary is an area that once was targeted for development. With amazing volunteers, they were able to conserve this special area. The area is rich in biodiversity and contains dry eucalypt forests, rainforest, melaleuca forest, casuarina woodland, salt marsh and mangroves. It is an amazing place to observe, listen and learn.
HAPPY WORLD WETLANDS DAY!
