Mystic Mackerel Creations
Renamed Mystic Mackerel Marvellous Tees. Witty, sarcastic, music themed, thought provoking and polit
Formerly t-shirts and clothing by Phil and Sandra, now just tees by Janet! Web site and online shop planned, renamed Mystic Mackerel Marvellous Tees and incorporated into the festival stall of Bookworm Abroad. Separate solo stalls possible and likely, online sales and enquiries initially through this page, watch this space for details of new sizes and colours and designs in due course. Sadly my expertise will not run to Phil's amazing tie-dye so for now it's just printed tees!
And last up this season
After that, Off The Tracks.
I've done some really good festivals over the years and indeed again this year, and I still have a few to go so I'm giving them a plug in case you're free and interested! Next up the legend that is A New Day, in the beautiful grounds of Mount Ephraim Gardens near Faversham in Kent. What a line up.........
Mystic Mackerel/Bookworm Abroad is in the middle of festival season and producing t-shirts in between festivals to replace ones sold. Some new designs coming along but presently no time to get them transformed from the silhouette programme from which the vinyls are cut and into the "gimp" (stop laughing now) programme which turns them into a t-shirt image on a torso. So check the new designs out at festivals and not yet on the website.
I'm still contemplating some post-election slogans.
Suggestions are always welcome; this past festival has produced "Never too old to groupie" and "I have no idea what I'm meant to be doing".
Probably about time I posted a list of where you can find me in a field this summer : Bookworm ABroad/Mystic Mackerel Marvellous Tees festivals 2024 -
With the news that there is to be a snap general election in July, you might want to consider fighting the election battle by wearing an appropriate t-shirt during the run up. Who knows if the slogans can be aimed at whoever comes next?? order on www.mysticmackerelmarvelloustees.co.uk/products before it's too late!!
A perfect blend of house party and festival Family-friendly festival set in the beautiful East Midlands countryside...
Anyone who attends New Forest Folk Festival may know this couple and wish to help. January is a bad month for festival traders but instead of a cash donation with money I don't have right now, I will donate the price of the first two t-shirts ordered under this offer so you pay as normal and I hand over £15 for each t-shirt to the funds. After that, for the whole of February, any shirt ordered under this campaign, I will donate £5 for each. It's important if you want to take the opportunity to get a shirt and still donate by default, that you let me know at the time of ordering!
Of course if you want to donate anyway, please do!

Just another monumental c**k up by the Home Office. What a surprise. Not only did the govt lie about how many cases were in the backlog, but it looks like they reduced the numbers by ineptitude. One department sends out notifications for interviews and important stuff but does not use the right address - bear in mind they decide where a person is placed, so they should know without making it the claimant's resposibility - whereas the evictions dept uses a different database which has the up to date address. "Katie Nelson, a caseworker in Duncan Lewis’ public law team, said: “We are seeing a real increase in vulnerable asylum seekers being made destitute in circumstances where the Home Office have managed to locate them for the purposes of serving an eviction letter, but have curiously sent important correspondence regarding their asylum claims to the incorrect address – even where the asylum seeker is accommodated in Home Office accommodation." I heard in the condemnation of the lying about figures mention of it undermining people's trust in the govt telling them the truth and laughed cynically, does anyone believe a word they say?? and this on the same day I also read that now they have done a u-turn on EU resettlement late applications for whatever it is they were supposed to get rather than the residency cards they already had, but it still sounds like a lot of people will fall foul of the post brexit rules especially if they can't afford legal representation(and no mention of the cost of asking to stay where you've lived and worked in some cases for many years, had a family etc etc).
And while all that rumbles on, Rwanda said, I believe, we can have out money back if we want to scrap the plans to send asylum seekers there, and the govt have hired a hangar somewhere to train staff to deal with the enforced flights out, Sunak declares he will get his bill passed no matter what, so we are relying on the Lords again to stop him changing the law in order to be allowed to break the law. And we thought it was bad enough with Johnson in charge.
We’ve no idea where you are but you’re evicted, Home Office tells migrants 'One typo and you’re f**ed'. Insiders reveal internal chaos, as lawyers condemn a 'ridiculous situation' leaving asylum seekers homeless
In which universe should you have to repeatedly prove you are still alive and not an incorrectly matched dead person, in order to get your pension paid without interruption? Not quite on the scale of the Post Office Horizon c**k up, but according to this, you don't ahve to do this just once after they make the incorrect connection, but every year thereafter. As she says, what are the odds of there being another retired teacher with the same name and date of birth anyway? Why don't they make more stringent checks in the first place? Why do they have to make an exception to disconnect her from the dead person's records to which she should never have been connected in the first place? and as she also says, how would it be more distressing to be told you have to reply within a certain period or risk non-payment than to be repeatedly asked to prove you are still alive............can't we do anything right in this country any more??
Retired teacher’s pension stopped as provider refuses to believe she is not dead A retired teacher has had her pension payments stopped four times because her pension provider repeatedly refuses to accept that she is not dead. Eileen McGrath, 85, was left without income over Christmas when Teachers’ Pensions, which administers payments on behalf of the UK government, wrongly m...

This time last year I was proudly announcing that I had finally got the website and online shop up and running, after much torment, trials, tears and swearing.
This year I have to ask for patience from anyone wanting a shirt in a hurry because the silhouette software I use for the designs has malfunctioned and been reinstalled - and needless to say is not working properly, so the vinyl cutter had joined in making absolutely rubbish jobs of most cuts. Happy to update this post by saying I have at least conquered that one and it's now doing a proper job again! All this when I am busy being employed 5 days a week as well as moving offices and my usual volunteering has not been the best of timing but I am doing my best with what time I have.......watch this space, and order early if you want them for Christmas!
It's that time of year again, and if you want the perfect gift for yourself or someone else passionate about animal rescue, you can buy one of these and £5 from every one sold will go to the rescue of your choice from the list offered.
Tshirts can be posted anywhere direct to the recipient and can even be gift wrapped if you wish.

Do you need reminding? Available from www.mysticmackerelmarvelloustees.co.uk/products
In the wake of the news re comments about "woke", I'd like to remind you that there is, as usual, a t-shirt for that. Available from my online shop £15 plus p&p all sizes up to 2XL, larger sizes £17.50 plus p&p. www.mysticmackerelmarvelloustees.co.uk
Anyone interested in one of these - basic design here, to be finished tomorrow, £15 as usual plus P&P and if you order direct £5 to every one will go to Care4Calais. Not yet on the online shop so floating the idea here just now. Also suggesting that anyone wants to pay more, it will be paid on as a donation to help fight this disgraceful proposed law. I'm considering who is fighting it best before I decide.
And if you don't like the sentiments, move on. It's my business and I will print what I want to.
For anyone else getting stroppy at work with good cause, I made my friend Diane a shirt and you could have one too.
January was a bit of a dull month, so I made a new design.
