According to polyvagal theory, the nervous system has three pathways it can follow in the face of a threat. By mapping these pathways, you can begin to identify your triggers and develop strategies for staying grounded.
Everyone dissociates at times — if you’ve ever found your mind wandering or got lost in a daydream, you’ve experienced dissociation.
But if you have persistent dissociation, you may have a dissociative disorder. Chronic dissociation can be overwhelming and keep you from living the life you want. It’s scary to feel disconnected from your experiences and identity.
The 5 Types of Dissociative Disorders As per the DSM-5-TR, there are five types: dissociative identity disorder, dissociative amnesia, depersonalization-derealization disorder, unspecified, and other specified.
Burnout can create a downward spiral. If we are stressed and overwhelmed we can't be empathetic and patient parents. This can then cause us to feel guilty and down we go. Taking care of ourselves helps us to be the best parent that we can be. On top of this we will be teaching our kids the importance of self-care and gives them coping strategies for life.

The first Friday of October is World Smile Day (October 7), a relatively new holiday with a fascinating story. Created by a commercial artist named Harvey Ball, this day came about as a response to his creation of the smiley face. Harvey worried that the commercialization of the symbol would lessen its impact. We can hardly blame him for his estimation; the symbol has been used in many different ways including clothing, comic books, coffee mugs, pins, and more. These little yellow faces are more than just a symbol, they’re a statement about the power of smiling.

The date of 5 September was chosen in order to commemorate the anniversary of the passing away of Mother Teresa of Calcutta, who received the Nobel Peace Prize in 1979 "for work undertaken in the struggle to overcome poverty and distress, which also constitute a threat to peace."
