April was a sweet month 💓 Women are nothing short of incredible.
Birth is such a parallel to our lives. We plan, we prepare, we decide how we’d like things to be, goals we have in mind. That was Sarah. She knew with her second baby- she wanted to let her body do what it needed to. And she still did just that. She advocated for herself by knowing the right questions to ask as well as knowing her options. She dreamed of a VBAC- things despite our best efforts don’t always go our way. She knew her options and advocated til she exhausted her options and also came to the conclusion that this was the safest way. She asked for a clear drape; she stayed grounded and fully aware of her sweet girl’s entrance. Tell me what a mother won’t do for her baby! Having a doula and a birth preferences doesn’t guarantee you’ll get all the things you hope for — it does however give you the support to go up the mountain; knowledge and a supportive doula alongside you. A great rule of thumb is to have a preference for both your dream birth and an emergency one if the need for a Caesarean arises. Did you have a birth preference list? Did you feel it helped?
March was a wonderfully busy month! Fox decided he wanted to stay home for his birth and was born before mom even had time to get her pants off! 🤣👖🦊 Toby and Zara were so close but I still got solid sleep in between the births! Perfectly timed ✨last but not least, Miss Alena decided to come early! She was born via belly birth and was a surprise sister 🥹💓
👏
Love this idea for adding doula support to your Babylist registry!
Would you add this to your registry??
I won’t ever stop feeling special for doula privileges like knowing about pregnancies before the rest of the world. It is such an honor. Just a foreshadowing to how I’ll hold space for you in labor ❤️
March Madness Allie the Doula Version 🥹❤️
Fox- March 2nd
Toby- March 6th
Zara- March 7th
29 starting off too fine- headed to a birth. LOVE TO SHARE A BIRTHDAY WITH A DOULA BABYYYY.
Had a doula first! Two babies born on the same day! 2-16-24 was a good day 😊👏
I’m a doula who encapsulates placentas…of course there’s a placenta in my passenger seat 🤪 where else would she ride? Lol.
I make it my business to hold you while you’re in one of the most vulnerable times, reminding you how sacred this event is. I’ve never felt such power in serving others than when I hold space for women in pregnancy and labor. It’s a powerful thing to walk alongside you in this intimate moment that I hope you’ll treasure forever. I always remind my mamas- you may have more babies but this is the one time you will birth THIS child. It’s okay to be picky about who you surround yourself with. To choose carefully your birth atmosphere is wise. There will never be a time during that time I want you to feel anything other than cared for, nurtured, supported and above all: seen and heard.
This is my 10th year as a doula! The question I hear the most besides, “what’s a doula? a do what?” Is…”Aren’t doulas just for moms who want “natural” births?” NO!!!! I’d even say that if you’re choosing to have an intervention- you might even need a doula more! Doulas are for women and families who want or need physical, emotional and informational support during an emotional life transition. They want their plans heard and discussed while they’re in a state of mind besides the waves. We give information when needed and research when needed as well. I’m a birth doula. There are also death doulas. Doulas- in the most basic description- support you so that you’re able to focus on either birthing a new family member or walking a family member home. It isn’t about not being able to do soemthing- this is about allowing others to support you, allowing yourself to ask for help and going back to that idea that we all need someone.
You’d like a calm, homey feeling for your labor and birth but feel the most comfortable at a hospital? I’ll be there, I’ll set the tone of the room. Scheduled C Section? I’m suited up and by your head the whole time, with or without a partner. Emergency C Section? I’m in recovery waiting for you. Water birth in your living room? I’ll be there from the first contraction (if you want me) all the way til you and baby are both cozy, relaxed, and nursing (if that is how you’re feeding baby or helping with a bottle).
All this to say- this is my dream job and my next dream is that doulas would become standard care. Everyone and I mean everyone can benefit from extra, full attention and non-bias support. #
Ecstatic. Elated. Energetic. Optimistic.
Birth can be all of these! I love this look!!! It’s the look of I just had a baby! Specifically, “hey! I just had a baby with dark hair! None of the other babies’ hair was this dark!” ☺️ Here’s to you, sweet Aaltje Josephine (said Alcha) , “Aalie Jo” (Ollie). Your mama is one of a kind. A smiling reminder that your attitude shapes so much of our experiences in life; including birth.
Deserved a permanent spot on the feed.
Determined. Humble. Incredibly strong. Radiant.
Third baby and her goal was unmedicated and she pushed through, overcame her fear and trusted. Her sweet man was one of the most supportive and in sync dads I’ve been with. Sweet baby girl Adeline Blair joined us last night at 5:10pm on 5-5-23; my 25th doula baby. Shared with permission.

Vernix Caseosa or is the name of this celestial white coating some babies are born with. Did you know that babies born between 38-40 weeks gestation are the ones most likely to have a layer of vernix? Babies born before or after this time are less likely to have any visible. This little lady came earthside in her 38th week so she was in prime shape to show off her beautiful coating. 💫
More fun vernix facts to (over)share with potential new friends at parties 🙃:
•vernix is antimicrobial so it helps prevent infections and helps baby form a healthy microbiome ✨
• vernix helps to regulate baby’s body temperature and is also super moisturizing with high amounts of vitamin e ✨
•the WHO recommends delaying baby’s first bath for (at least) 24 hours so don’t wipe that vernix off - rub that goodness in! ✨
How much vernix did your baby have when they were born?

We’re celebrating through the weekend! The next doula that we absolutely love is Allie!
“Doula work is soul filling. That’s the best way to describe it. It’s humbling work. I will gladly take a back seat while you bring your baby earth side, let me help you recognize the power you already have deep inside. It is holding your hand and keeping you grounded. It is holding your hand while you transition from maidenhood to motherhood. This is the business of building families and empowering women; two of my favorite things ❤️”
Allie has a heart of gold and a deep belief in the power of birth. She serves Gainesville and the surrounding areas. If you’re interested in connecting with her, let us know!
This is what a placenta looks like in capsules and then before it’s been steamed, dehydrated and ground down for capsules...it looks like this!
This placenta was my very first surrogate one to encapsulate! It was also my largest placenta of a single baby to date! 168 total capsules! 35 more than my next largest haha.
It’s also international day of the Midwife! I already loved birth but birth with Rosalie...I highly recommend it. She is calm, confident and easy to be on a team with!!! This really was the dream birth team. Same time, next month? Hahaha.
