Sultana Mediterranean in Menlo Park is worth the visit. Quaint, clean space with a enclosed outdoor dining area. The staff is polite, attentive, and will offer suggestions if asked.

Our server suggested the ezme as appetizer. Sultana 's rendition of ezme is chopped fresh tomatoes, onion, walnut, cucumber and spices served with pita. It was tasty and perfect for sharing.

Our server also suggestedthe pomegranate kebab. The gound lamb and beef kebab is stuffed with spinach then sliced as shown in the picture. It is served over garlic yogurt topped with pomegranate sauce and accompany with rice. One word: delicious!

If we lived closer we'd visit Sultana regularly. We're nowlooking for rec pes to replicate the dishes.

We admit we have a soft spot for Restaurant Gary Danko . Whenever we're in San Francisco and budget allows, we visit. Our recent visit was worth making the call to get a reservation.

Food for thought: raisins are NOT a condiment.

To date I have not seen a restaurant list: ketchup (catsup), mustard, mayonnaise, AND raisins as condiments. Maybe A1 sauce, Worcestershire, soy/tamari, pepper sauce , but NOT raisins

Reasonable uses of raisins: rum raisin ice cream, peanut butter and raisins , oatmeal and raisins (hot cereal and cookies), carrot raisin salad, raisin sauce on ham or pork tenderloin, trail mix, strudel, tagine, some North Indian dishes (think korma and biryani).

Unreasonable use of raisins: potato salad and today's surprise: sauerkraut.

Just. Stop. It.

We recently received a message from a beloved relative: " I have been on the hunt for eggnog and it's your fault lol. Because ever since you told me about eggnog and whiskey I've been hooked!

The eggnog in question is Pennsylvania Dutch eggnog. In addition to eggnog, the Pennsylvania Dutch product line includes strawberries and cream, salted caramel, pumpkin spice, and peppermint bark.

Fortunately, Pennsylvania Dutch also has a store locator on its website too, https://g.co/kgs/3qv22r .Of course we've shared the store locator link with our eggnog bereft relative.

A recent weather forecast for single digit temperatures (Fahrenheit) shifted our plans from leaving milk and cookies for Santa to something warm and filling.

Fortunately, our order of D'Artagnan duck and armagnac sausage arrived just in time. We followed a great preparationsuggestion posted by another buyer (see the comments). The sausage was accompanied by Brussels sprouts and Savorly mini potato and cheese gratins.
