Love this. Perfect for a new year. Ever grateful. IYKYK 🙏💖
Just a quick “Thank you” to everyone who has read, liked and shared my posts/page. We need to get the word out to save our kids. Grooming can happen right under our noses. Be alert. Stay vigilant.
Case in point.
I’m still trying to get over the fact that the Tioga ISD school board and their attorney were not transparent at the meeting on November 20. It was announced that the teacher, Brad Strickland, who groomed our daughter for two+ years and with whom she is now living, would not be terminated. The reason, according to the attorney, was that given the district’s dire financial situation having received their third consecutive “F” rating in financial performance from the TEA, the school could not afford to fire him, and that it would be too lengthy of a process, approximately 3 to 4 additional months. Rather, the school board asked for the teacher’s resignation which he submitted that evening of the November 20 board meeting.
Transparency was lacking because there was no announcement in the open session that the teacher’s resignation wouldn’t be effective until three months from then on February 15, 2024. I even asked the question immediately post-adjournment, but the school board president Stacy Price refused to answer me in public. My husband and I had to approach him and the school attorney to get my answer out of earshot of most everyone else.
IMHO:
1) The district could have and should have terminated the teacher. It was their choice not to. They used the excuse of not being able to afford the termination which, according to the attorney would have cost approximately $30,000 plus fees.
2) Our grievance has been ongoing since June. Prior to that, we initially complained to the previous superintendent Charles Holloway who saw and had copies of “the evidence” made, and Principal Keith Kirkland in March 2022. Yes, 2022. This was a 💯% preventable event yet little to nothing was done to protect our daughter. What’s another 3 to 4 months to ensure that the appropriate and correct action would be taken?
3) As hard up as districts are for teachers these days, it’s likely that Brad Strickland will be able to secure another teaching position somewhere else.
4) The Tioga ISD School Board and Administration made a conscious and deliberate decision to jeopardize the safety of students throughout Texas. That is a travesty.
Furthermore, it blows my mind that the individuals I refer to as “the haters”:
1. refuse to accept the facts in this case that prove grooming occurred in their school
2. try to brush this case under the rug by preventing relative posts on certain parent-administered and other Facebook Groups, and deny or revoke my and my supporters’ related FB group memberships
2. accuse me, my husband and our supporters of just being out to tarnish/ruin the town, the District and it’s administration. Nothing could be further from the truth.
There are some great teachers at Tioga ISD. I am happy for the good things that have come out of the district… a good education, the early college high school program, athletics, FFA, etc, but when a teacher is allowed to groom a student, to alienate her from her family, to coerce her to lie repeatedly, to convince her that she’s better off with him…when the teacher makes false accusations about the parents in an attempt to justify his actions and school administrators and “the haters” take his word for it without even calling us to express concern or to validate his claims….THAT IS JUST PLAIN WRONG! He “was led to do it”, “he’s a prayer warrior”, “he’s a man of high moral character “ - BS!!! His initials are appropriate.
It’s often those you’d least suspect that would commit these types of offenses - to prey on young and vulnerable kids, to manipulate even adults to win them over and have them
believe his lies, to be part of his cult, and turn the victim’s parents and their support into outcasts.
At times I feel it’s just too much. I’ve lost my only child, my miracle baby. Our family is devastated. And “the haters” blame US. They don’t even KNOW us. They’d be singing a different song if it had been THEIR kid. But oh no, it couldn’t happen to them. Don’t even ask me about those who want to speak out to support us but don’t. They are afraid of retaliation. They have kids in the district. There are some that even work for the district. Sad.
It’s amazing how much evil is in the world, even (especially?) in this small community. But I’m staying strong. I trust in God that justice will prevail, that our daughter will come back home and we’ll be healed.
There is a lot of work that needs to be done to improve the safety of students in our great State. Our laws need to be changed. TEA needs an inspector general to hold them accountable. Schools need to lose their Sovereign Immunity privileges. It’s PAST time to put students and families first.
Please support .
Please call or write to Governor Abbott. Let him know we need education law reform NOW. We need to do a better job of protecting students from INTERNAL threats, not just external threats, NOW. We need to do a better job of educating everyone - teachers, administrators, students, parents, the community- about child predators and grooming. We need to better enforce Jenna’s Law. Make Jenna Quinn’s book required reading for high schoolers. We need an Inspector General to hold the TEA accountable NOW.

Thank you.
I’ve attempted to post the same article posted here on Nov 23 to a couple of other Facebook groups/pages in Tioga TX and Whitesboro TX. Unfortunately and disappointingly, my requests to post were either not approved, or my post was taken down after a day or two. I find it quite outrageous that some people are trying to cover up the truth. That is a disservice to the community. Parents need to be aware that there are predators out there in our communities and in our schools. Turning a blind eye and protecting the predator is only going to end up hurting more children and destroying more families.

Please take a listen to this interview from last night on XSpaces (formerly TwitterSpaces) with . I tell the story about our daughter who was groomed by a teacher at Tioga ISD. She ended up moving in with him after her high school graduation back in June. Our family is devastated. I've learned over the past five months that this type of thing happens often and all over the state - in public and private schools, at churches, gyms, and anywhere there is an adult in an authority position where there are children. PLEASE educate yourself. If it could happen to us, it can happen to anyone.
PLEASE take action and DEMAND an Inspector General for Education in our state. Governor Abbott needs to hear this from as many people as possible.

Here is a follow up on the October 16 Tioga ISD Board meeting during which we had our Level Three Grievance hearing with the School Board regarding the teacher accused of having an improper relationship with our daughter who at the time was a student at the High School. PART 1. This is being provided in an effort to educate you on grooming and how students - our children - can fall victim to those in positions of authority, including but not limited to teachers. Know the signs. Protect your kids and your family, especially when the school doesn't.

Our story was published in the Texas Scorecard on October 12. On October 13, the teacher accused of grooming our daughter was finally put on Administrative Leave by Tioga ISD administration. Through two CPS cases and two Sheriff investigations dating back to August 2021, with solid evidence of an improper teacher-student relationship having been provided to school administration in March 2022, the teacher was never put on leave until the day after we went public, 19 months after that evidence had been provided. We had our hearing before the school board on October 16, more than two months after our Level Three Grievance was filed. I'll let you decide if there was or wasn't a sense of urgency on the part of school administration.
The Post Signal Newspaper reported on that Board Meeting in their Oct 20 edition.
