Why EM: EM gives me the ability to help patients in the worst time of their life which is very humbling and extremely rewarding. I like doing procedures, love teamwork, and the emergency room is the best environment for both.

Interesting fact: I won first place in my 4th grade spelling bee even though English was my worst subject

Why EM: I shadowed in an ER before medical school and was immediately drawn to the dynamic personalities of the staff and to the fast-paced environment

Interesting fact: I left Nigeria at 16 to attend college at UConn. 

Why EM: I like the diversity of cases and people I get to meet in the ED. I like that it keeps me guessing. I also enjoy being able to do procedures.

Why EM: I love the variety and the unpredictability, there’s never a dull moment in the ED. It’s rewarding and satisfying to be a reason for bringing quick relief to a patient suffering in pain, or reassuring their worries. I’d like to try my best to get our patients the help they need and to bring peace and tranquility to what can sometimes become a chaotic environment.

Why EM: I chose EM because it is where I feel I am challenged to my full potential. I love the fast paced environment and the ability to work as a team. You are the first line of care for your patients in the emergency department. It is truly humbling to treat people at their worst and absolutely gratifying to make a lasting impact in their lives.

Why EM:
Emergency medicine truly encompasses the essence of medicine in its most urgent and impactful moments. I desired to be part of something greater and to make a direct difference in people’s lives during critical moments. I find this field to be fascinating and I’m so grateful for the opportunity to serve my community.

Interesting fact: My favorite animal is a great white shark and I will be cage diving with them in Australia right before graduation! 

Why EM: This specialty allows me to have a large impact in a short period of time. I live to connect with my patients and help them on what could be the worst day of their lives.

Happy National Nurses Week! We are so thankful for our nurses in our department. From helping our interns learning how to place peripheral IVs from day 1, watching our now seniors grow the past three years, and providing the best care possible to our patients, you rock! Thanks for being the best.

2024 was a big hit! Congrats to all of our residents, APPs, and attendings that submitted! We had 26 poster acceptances, PGY- 2 resident talk, PGY-3 abstract acceptance and talk, and two fantastic talks by our very own .
