Introducing the Devon Yawl: the UK's performance day-sailer. Combining good looks and seaworthines
Originally conceived as a GRP version of the Salcombe Yawl – one of the UK's earliest classes – the Devon Yawl's ancestry can ultimately be traced back to the small inshore fishing vessels of the Salcombe estuary and South Devon. Inheriting the speed, good windward performance and easy-handling of its working-boat forebears, the Devon Yawl fuses these qualities with resilience, ease of maintenance
Some more progress photos of Dy389, this is my personal boat which I’m going to use to test some new ideas on and to learn from.

Our first prototype Allen Sailing stock / tiller has arrived. Really pleased with how it’s turned out and they look great paired with the Milanes Foils. We plan to fit and test this to DY388, and if all works well we will make a run of these for all future boats. They will also be available for other yawls

Devon yawl 390 deck now fitted. Tomorrow we will be fitting all the selden deck hardware.
Devon yawl 390 being lifted out of the mould. Very wet day perfect for floating the boat out of the mould. The colour is dark grey blue which is very different for a yawl but I think it looks great against the quill grey interior. If you were wondering what happened to 389 that boat is our test boat and is being used to make tooling to speed up assembly. We will be starting to make parts for Dy 391 very soon.
Here is the start of the interior floor mouldings being bonded in. These are made up of 3 separate chambers.
Next Devon Yawl in production in a dark blue/grey colour. We have sped up production by making new frame moulds. Very satisfying when they all fit as hoped! Won’t be long until this boat needs it’s rigs.
We are here at the RYA Dinghy & Watersports Show stand A19 with DY388. Thanks to Devon Yawl Association, Allspars, Ullman Sails UK, Seldén Mast, Sea-Dek and Armada Sails for your continued support.
We hope to see you at the show!
