Everyone at Mansfield Park would like to send their thoughts and best wishes to Stuart Graham and his family following the dreadful injury he picked up during yesterday’s game. ‘Biscuit’ twisted badly in a tackle resulting in a bad dislocation and break of his left ankle.
He went through an operation at the BGH last night to relocate the ankle, and further surgery this morning to repair the damage done. I spoke to Stuart’s father in law this afternoon, and Wull kindly gave me the go ahead to update everyone concerned.
We would like to say a huge thank you to our Club Doctor Neil Vint, physio Becca Armstrong together with the Percy Park physio, for their first class, calm and assured care. Also to the ambulance crew who attended and looked after Stuart. Thereafter everyone in attendance at Mansfield Park yesterday and ultimately the doctors, nurses and surgeons at the BGH, who have given Stuart the very best of care in the last 24 hours.
I can’t stress how big a part Stuart has played at Mansfield Park, over the many years he has been here, and how highly respected and admired he is, by not only the membership but by all the players coaches and backroom staff. We saw yesterday how the spirit of this club comforted Stuart and his family, and we will continued to do this as Stuart recovers from his injury and gets back on his feet. Hawick RFC isn’t just a rugby club, it is a community and a way of life, and always will be. Our love to Stuart, Kerry, Lydia, Rory, Jane, Wull, Carol, Ross & Ailsa. 🏉💚

The new season is just around the corner and Hawick Minis registration day will be held on the 18th of August between 9:30am and 10:30am at Mansfield Park, the home of Hawick Rugby Club.
Our minis registration day allows the opportunity for kids who have already played to get to come back for a new season but also the opportunity for new players to try out rugby down at their local club. This session is open to all children from P1 to P7.
This year we are excited to bring our Hawick Girls rugby down to Mansfield at the same time as our mixed Minis groups. This will allow the option to play in the mixed teams or in a girls only group!
We can’t wait to see everyone on the field again, 💚🏉💚

JOHN ANDISON 1939-2024
Everyone at Mansfield Park were deeply saddened on Sunday evening to hear the news of the sudden passing of long standing committee stalwart John Andison.
John who had been battling illness throughout this season, died at home in Hawick with his family by his side.
John began his playing career with the PSA before moving to Hawick YM, after which time he played for his regiment during National Service. He unfortunately picked up an injury during that time which robbed him from the opportunity of pushing for a ‘Green Jersey’ on his return home. However John continued his involvement with the game, becoming part of the excellent PSA Committee of the 1970’s, ultimately being awarded life membership of the club for his services. He also held the position of U18’s South of Scotland, and Scotland selector during his time in semi-junior rugby.
He began his tenure at Mansfield Park in the 1970’s when invited down by the then, Club Secretary Dick Aitchison, because the Fixture Secretary George Penman, was due to be elected Vice President. As was protocol back then, John was listed’ for office, shadowing George for a period of time, before seamlessly assuming the role together with the role of Convenor of Hawick Sevens.
Since then, barring a brief sojourn, he has been an integral part of the Hawick RFC Executive.
As Match Secretary, every season he carried out countless hours of invaluable service for his beloved Greens, liaising with his counterparts all over the UK to make sure matches and pitches were confirmed, buses ordered and referee’s lined up. John also took care of the hugely important and ever expanding task of player registration and insurance.
In his other capacity as Ground & Buildings Convenor for Mansfield Park, he was always on hand, working closely with his good friend groundsman Davy Cranston, making sure everything was in order. If he couldn’t carry out the necessary work himself, he always had a reliable contact in his address book he could call.
A permanent fixture at the club for so long, John will be a huge miss.
Everyone at Hawick RFC would like to send our most sincere condolences and deepest sympathies to John’s wife Ina and their family. We wish you strength, support and comfort, together with the love of friends and family as you remember cherished memories.
In Memoriam - Thank you John, for everything you have done for Hawick RFC, we owe you a great debt of gratitude. 🏉💚 (MG)
