Working a new necklace! I’m realizing I create out of experience. The mind can be fragile. When you have someone in your life with memory lapses…you realize that even more. Like this piece, people with dementia or Alzheimer’s have gaps, pieces missing in the memory or a compression of time. I’m not an expert…just speaking from my experience with my mom. In all the things that seem like chaos on the surface, she shows me a goldmine…parts of herself I didn’t know about. I didn’t know my mom was getting in “Good Trouble” in Xenia, OH, hiding under the floor boards of a church to avoid being arrested for a participating sit in while in college. Who knew! But I love finding out who she is.

Whenever my jewelry is in a magazine it is exciting moment for me but this time is different. To see my face in and …let’s just say it’s a God moment. Honestly, that whole photoshoot experience was a God moment. Everything lined up perfectly. From me reaching to , who I’ve known since our days at Mark Twain, and asking her to style me and mom, to her suggesting photographer , who did such a wonderful job and was amazing with my mom, to suggestion for a MUA, , who made me and my mom look fabulous and is one of my mom’s former students and her favorite cheerleader from all of her cheer teams, after ‘93🤣. I can’t thank my hairstylist turned friend/big sister Donna Faulk for getting up very early on a Sunday morning to make sure my hair was picture perfect and continually speaking greatness over my life. The last photo of me and my mom, is a moment I will always treasure. I know it’s been in a very long time since my mom felt beautiful and it was a blessing to witness that.
