and on the tables at and and in our CSA buckets ❤️❤️❤️
I started Butterbee when I was 23, which seems so crazy to me eleven years later. I didn't know anything at all, at least that's how it feels looking back. But if I had known more about what was ahead (the pandemic, moving the farm twice, the money stress), I might not have done it.
When we moved to our forever farm a couple of years ago, we decided to take just a few weeks off of harvesting and delivering flowers in the midsummer. The plan was to have more flexible time to go away, see friends, and flip the farm for the fall season.
But the more we considered it, the more we felt it wasn't enough time. I asked myself: what would be enough time off in the summer to feel properly rested for fall wedding season?
I wondered if we could get away with four weeks off... six weeks off... but what about eight weeks off? And after crunching the numbers, that's what we decided!
So we went for it, we told all our beloved customers we wouldn't be delivering or harvesting flowers for the summer, we adjusted our hiring to accommodate the break, and started saying no to summer flower inquiries. It is super scary to say no to so many people, but amazingly, every single person is SO understanding and supportive!
During our summer break, we still have lots of farm work to do, but we can do it with a flexible schedule; we can be indoors during the hottest part of the day; and we can go away easily to see friends and family.
Our summer break begins June 15th. I'll still respond to emails and such, but I'll take a break from posting on insta and be back full force in mid August after much rest and summer fun times. Thanks so much to all our customers for your patience and support as we follow our dreams to wild places!

Flowers can say so many things. Sometimes I think they're simply saying: Life is so full.
Our first bulk order of the season turned out so pretty!! Thank you ❤️
Juicy ranunculus colors to greet the sun finally coming out!!!
We're trying to take photos, but the rain is having a big ole' spring party, and we're all invited! Here's hoping for some sun this weekend!
As y'all know, we don't offer daily flowers- we'd rather you shop at our florist customers for a bouquet or centerpiece. But we've slowly been building up our retail offerings, both to diversify our business a little, and to partake in the joy of getting our blooms directly to your kitchen table!
Here's a roundup of how you can get our blooms (links in our profile):
🌸Join our CSA, sold out for spring, but fall shares are still available!
🌸Shop our online store for small bulk orders

Spring.
To our customers- your kind words always land, you were particularly sweet to us this week. ❤️🧡💛
We cut poppies when they're budded up and just barely showing color through their green encasing. They open on your table in an instant, literally popping! It's magical to watch!
Ranunculus! Happy Spring y'all!

We had a pack rat in the greenhouses (not a metaphor, a literal rat digging up bulbs and storing them in unexpected places), but thankfully some of our tulips survived! The pack rat has been gently relocated and I tip my hat to the sheer amount of bulbs it managed to dig up!
