Boyko Fruits
Boyko Fruits has been selling fresh delicious fruits in season for 30 years. We sell in different locations so this page will be a way of keeping in touch.
This post is from Greg Boyko, one of LaVerne and Betty's sons. On August 20, my father (LaVerne) passed away unexpectedly, less than seven weeks after my mother (Betty) passed away. He had gone for a load of peaches and had expected to be selling this weekend. While he had been feeling pretty good (relatively speaking), his health was not up to the task.
My dad was not one to sit idle. He was working up until the end, doing what he enjoyed.
On behalf of my family, I thank you all for your patronage over the years.
Due to the unexpected death of Betty Boyko late last week, Boyko Fruits will not be operating during the summer of 2020.
So it's time for me to post an update, people are wondering about peaches. We are planning to start with some peaches probably in early July. LaVerne hasn't been feeling as well so we may have to go a bit lighter this season but at this point we are planning for early July. We would begin with Georgia peaches and then see how the season progresses.
So I was hoping to post this month that we were coming with a load of California oranges. We started to prepare our truck to go but Covid19 happened and LaVerne and I are both high risk if exposed. At this time we are planning to stay home. We will see what the next weeks bring. If we plan a trip I will post here to let people know. Please follow all the health recommendations to the best of your ability. I am praying for all our customers to stay well.
We are parked next to Applebee's in Jamestown with peaches. We will be here for a while if the weather holds. We also have pickles and salsa.
LaVerne will be in Rugby tomorrow (Monday) and Tuesday.
LaVerne is selling Utah peaches today in Grand Forks.
Our stand at Home of Economy in Devil's Lake is now open selling Utah peaches.
We are not able to be there at10am today, we will be open by noon or a little sooner if possible
We will be selling Utah peaches and pickles today at Home of Economy parking lot in Devil's Lake. We will be there by 11:30.
Leaving Harvey and heading to Devil's Lake where we will be selling tomorrow and Thursday.
We got our van repaired and are in Bismarck. We will be driving to Harvey tomorrow morning.
We are still in Billings hoping our van part àrrives tomorrow so we can get back on the roàd.
Breakdown in Billings. The van needs a special fuse that they have to order from Tennessee, they can't get it until Monday 😟 We will not be able to sell in Jamestown Sunday or Monday. Jamestown Sun is putting a cancellation in the paper.
Sadly when we pulled in to fill gas in Billings there was a squealing noise under the hood and the van would not start or even turn over. 4:30 am :( and parked right at the gas pump. The supposedly 24 hour towing services do not answer for the most part. We finally found one but their after hours tow was over $300 so we decided to wait until 7 or so which will save us a couple hundred according to the guy we spoke with. We want to get it to Ford ASAP and hopefully get down the road a ways. We had hoped to be back by 7pm tonight but now we will stop somewhere for Sabbath and then drive the rest of the way Saturday night. Hopefully we will still be on time in Jamestown on Sunday.
We will be in Jamestown Sunday and Monday. Tuesday we will be in Harvey, Wednesday and Thursday we will be in Devil's Lake. Friday Oct 4 and Sunday Oct 6 we will be in Grand Forks. We will probably be in Rugby and Minot that week but not confirmed yet.
We are leaving for Utah today to get another load of peaches.
We will be selling Utah peaches for a while this afternoon at Home of Economy in Devil's Lake. We will be there at noon and want to sell what we have left and get ready to go back for one more load. No schedule is yet planned for the new load.
Today we are selling Utah peaches, pickles and salsa in Jamestown next to Applebee's. We will be open about 10. Our truck will be there in a few minutes but we haven't eaten yet so will set up after we eat.
Tomorrow (Wednesday 9-18) is our last day in Minot this week. You still have a chance to get delicious peaches, pickles and salsa. Thursday and Friday we will be in Jamestown, Sunday we will be in Grand Forks.
We will have enough peaches for Jamestown so we have placed an ad in the paper that we will be there Thursday and Friday near Applebee's.
Reminder - we are at Home of Economy Minot today thru Wednesday with Utah peaches, pickles and salsa
LaVerne will be selling our new load of Utah peaches today in Minot. He hopes to be there by 10 am. These are freestone peaches, great for eating or canning. When I get there later this afternoon we will also have pickles and salsa. We will be in Minot through Wednesday, then if we have enough peaches we will go to Jamestown. If we sell out this week we will go for another load.
We are back from Utah with our peaches. LaVerne is staying in Jamestown and will sell there tomorrow. Then Sunday we will be in Minot.
We just finished loading our new load of Utah peaches. They are beautiful and will be very good. We have confirmed a newspaper ad to be in Minot at Home of Economy parking lot Sunday thru Wednesday Sept 15-18. We tentatively plan to be in Jamestown Thursday Sept 19 unless we would sell out in Minot which I think is unlikely but that will not be confirmed until sometime next week. I cannot give any schedule plans for other towns until we see how this week goes.
We are leaving for Utah today (Monday) to get another load of peaches. LaVerne thinks this may be our nicest load so far this year, they should be a little larger. We will be working on a tentative schedule. Last trip to Utah we had tire trouble which delayed us a couple of days. Hopefully not this time. Will post when I know.
Friday 9-6 LaVerne will be selling Utah peaches in Jamestown across from Applebees. He plans to be there by 11 am. How late he stays will depend on how busy he is but he was hoping to stay until 5pm. Sunday we will be in Grand Forks at 17th Ave S and S Washington (across from Hugos). He is selling out the rest of this load at 35 dollars for a 20 lb box (regular price is 40 dollars). While supplies last.
We left Napoleon about 12:30 and will be across from the Travel Plaza in Steele for several hours.
We still have Utah peaches. We will be selling at Napoleon Livestock tomorrow.
We will be selling Utah peaches tomorrow (Wednesday) at Kist Livestock from 10-6
