Have a whole bag of 3D printed perch holders. Some with different hole patterns than others due to being made in different eras of these perch holders. Regardless, they are all for 3/4” OD plastic rod. I used them with a product called Acetron. These are not for 1/2” PVC.

If interested, let me know!

Just sent these two off to their new owners. Banjo X Amber male off to Canada. Wrangler X Storm female off to Colorado. I’m sure they will be stoked when they see them in person!

The D***o turned 4 this month. His brother Frostbite proved out last season at 39 months old. Hopefully this male will get it done this fall. He continues to clean up and loose little bits of melanism and I expect him to do so for a couple more years.

Here’s some quick pics of the recent Frostbite x Hotstuff calico neos. I just took these from the well lit side, regardless of which direction they were facing. These are all eating really well now and starting to grow. Super excited about the mysteries contained within each of these little guys.

The 2024 Frostbite x Hotstuff clutch has just hatched here at Mid-Atlantic Arboreals!

It was a small clutch of 8 nice fertile eggs and a couple slugs. She’s a smaller female and her mother Blondie interestingly also lays about 8 egg clutches so I wasn’t surprised. I had 1 egg go bad about a week in, but the rest incubated smoothly and I was able to hatch the remaining 7. The neonates are all huge and appear healthy and well formed.

Frostbite is a blue/black male I produced from my 2020 Wrangler X Mercury and comes from some of the best blue blood out there. His clutchmate brother is my other blue male The D***o.

Hotstuff is a HY calico female from The Barns Velvet x Blondie pairing. He clutchmate brother is Warzone and she has several world class sisters that look similar to her.

This is definitely the most extreme pairing I’ve ever pulled off and I couldn’t be more grateful and thrilled!

Random Designer Hybrids

Just finished up installing a small air exhaust system. This should help me better achieve night time lows during the breeding season, knock down my summertime day time highs, provide for fresh air exchange, and create a little negative pressure on the door reducing odors escaping into the rest of the house. I’ve got it running on a herpstat and vented out an old dryer vent that was not in service.

Have you noticed how most of the folks that talk down about designer Chondros work with and produce designer morph ball pythons, carpets, and boas? 🤔

2020 Gila Monsters. Giving this group one more year before brumating them for the first time. My 2019s are currently down for the winter.

Basin female looking great. I’m going to try her next fall when she’s heading towards 6 years old.

Installed some shelves in the young Boelens enclosures. Came up with the idea of using lighting grid for the shelf material which allows the heat to radiate down through it. Along with the various hides, they have several different temperature zones to rest and bask in.

Added some elevated hides to these enclosures, they seem to love them!

Some thoughts....

I keep seeing the words "blue line" to describe locality crosses and other blue snakes that are unrelated to the TW Blue Line. IMO, this creates confusion and misrepresents the snakes.

Most experienced breeders consider the Blue Line a thing, not a descriptive term for any snake with blue coloration. Its a specific lineage. This is similar to how not every snake with pixilated coloration is a calico. Calico is a specific lineage with specific founder animals. And not all yellow snakes are Lemons... I could keep going. You get the idea.

Not that these newer blue snakes cant be celebrated, they just aren't related to the Blue Line. In fact, there are many examples of past amazing snakes that were blue in color but referred to in ways to help people distinguish between the two. For example, BM New Blue, Vinsky Blue, or Prada Line. These snakes were all unrelated to the Blue Line and therefor not called such.

When crossed with the actual Blue Line, people would say things like TW Blue Line x Prada or SH/Vinsky x TW Blue Line etc.

Its keeping things well sorted and maintaining accurate lineages that made chondros a unique gem in the reptile world and we should work hard to maintain that. IMO.

Pictured here is a Blue Line chondro with lineage dating back to some of the first chondros ever produced in captivity in the mid 1970's. Almost 50 years of captive line bred blue lineage.
