Dojodai Foundation
Dojodai Foundation is a US based nonprofit charity devoted to improving the lives of children through What is Shotokan Karate? Qu'est ce que le Karate Shotokan?
Dojodai Foundation's purpose is to promote education and the practise and vulgarization of Shotokan Karate and of Aikido throughout the Republic of Haiti for the benefit of the youth. In Japanese, the kanji (ideograms) "kara" means empty, specifically emptiness in the philosophical sense of the term "you" is the hand and, by extension, the hand that performs the technique. Thus Karate translates l
iterally as "empty hand" or "bare hands". But, again, the word "void" also reveals that every practitioner should be "void of ill intentions," that the only motivation that should guide his training is that of personal achievement, improvement of his being in all areas of his life. The word "void" also induces the importance to fully concentrate on the present moment, the right attitude, the right perception, which will adopt the right gesture or the right word at the right time. Shotokan is a school of Karate developed by Gichin Funakoshi from various other martial arts came from China. The term refers to a Shotokan style and is one of the main models of Karate, the other fifteen being the Sh*to-ryu, Goju-ryu, Gosoku-ryu Isshin-ryu, Kokondo, Kyokushinkai, Seido Ryu, Ryu Shindo Jinen , Shorin-ryu, Shuri-ryu, Uechi-ryu, Wado-ryu, Yoshukai, Ryuei-ryu Kenpo. The Shotokan Karate, a Japanese martial art, practiced by over 50 million people worldwide and is, more than any other martial disciplines, the most common style and practiced in Haiti. Karate is based on percussion techniques using different body parts as natural weapons (fingers open or closed hands, forearms, feet, shins, elbows, knees, head, shoulders ...) to block the enemy attacks and / or attack. The techniques include parades, dodge, scans, projections and key. To gain mastery of these techniques, teaching has three complementary areas of studies: Kihon, Kata and Kumite.
. Kihon (meaning "basic technique") is to repeat individually and mostly in groups of techniques, positions and movements. It can also be practiced with a codified business partner.
. Kata (which means "form") is a codified and structured sequence of techniques, representing a real fight against several almost simultaneous virtual attackers aiming at the formation of the body, the purchase of automation and transmission of secret techniques. Kata beyond the purely technical aspect by allowing the practitioner, by numerous repetitions, to strive for the perfection of the gesture and especially to experience the spirit.
. The final area is the Kumite or fight. Literally it means "group the hands', that is to say work in groups rather than alone. This notion of Kumite can take many forms in Karate. The more codified in the most free form. The fight can be predefined, fixed to a number of attacks or specific perpetrators (an attack, three attacks, an attacker, two attackers, etc.), said flexible contactless or free. Gichin Funakoshi, career teacher in the primary school in Naha prefecture of Ryukyu Islands south of Japan, considered the traditional martial arts (such as Sumo, Jujitsu and Kenjutsu) too focused on fighting their forms and he wanted to make the Shotokan focus less on combat and more on health, education, breathing, energy release and control of the body and mind. For Funakoshi, "the real purpose of Karate is not the victory over the other, but the development of the character." FRANCAIS__
