About Melissa Eldridge – State Farm Agent

Melissa started her career with USAA in 1994, living in Colorado Springs at the time. What initially drew her to this opportunity was their large roster of employees and big regional office. In addition, she would often hear how great of a company it was. She stayed with USAA until 2001 ,where she primarily worked in personal coverage lines; eventually she ended up on the member relations and feedback team. In that position she dealt with The Department of Insurance inquiries and executive leadership correspondence.

In 2001, Melissa looked at relocating to the east coast to be closer to her mother who was battling health concerns. At the time, the opportunity to stay on board with USAA and transfer to their Tampa Bay office was not feasible. Tampa Bay was the most desirable location to which to transfer, because her mother lived in the Panhandle area of Florida, in Fort Walton Beach. However the distance from Tampa Bay to Fort Walton Beach still made the commute impractical.

Around that time, Melissa learned of an opportunity with State Farm that was in her desired location. So, from 2001 to 2004, Melissa worked as a team member in an agent’s office. During her time there, she learned a lot about the business and what the requirements were to become an agent herself. She knew she wanted to continue growing in her insurance career, so she sought out information on State Farm’s Agency Program and was selected to go through the Agency Program in 2005.

Shortly after completing her agency training, Melissa then moved to Rome, GA and took over an office there in January, 2006.

State Farm Insurance offers approximately 120 different products and services. Therefore, Melissa has a very broad portfolio of services to offer her customers. In part, her State Farm portfolio includes:

Life Insurance

Health Insurance

With her commercial customers, Melissa meets with them herself, because their policies are usually more involved and complex. Other members of her team primarily focus on personal lines for her agency.

Geographical Coverage Area

Melissa is licensed in the states of Georgia and Alabama. Even though Melissa and her team can legally write insurance policies throughout both states, their primary counties are Floyd County, Gordon County, and all of the contiguous counties (that touch Floyd and Gordon). The majority of Melissa’s customers (both consumers and businesses) reside in these counties.

However, her marketing approach is much broader. One can find Melissa’s marketing efforts throughout the states of Georgia and Alabama.

Management Approach

As the agent, Melissa invests a lot of her time coaching and mentoring her team. Under her guidance, team members quickly become proficient in vitually all aspects of the business. She helps each team member appreciate the importance of taking care of customers better than any other insurance agency.

When asked about her team’s dedication and focus, here was Melissa’s response, “We’re a team of highly trained professionals who help people discover and understand the financial risks of everyday life. We energize lives through our performance and passion. We provide insurance, financial products, and services to help people manage these risks, paving the way to reach their financial dreams.”

Melissa now has a total of 11 team members—there are seven in the Rome office and four in her new Calhoun office.

Customer Satisfaction

Customers say they are most appreciative for her team’s responsiveness. They get back to their customers quickly and get things resolved just as fast.

Melissa has one client who, although she recognizes that she pays a little bit more for her coverage, she is more than happy to do so because she knows the type of service she can expect. Customers notice that the agency is always at the top of their game, and that they will take care of their needs.

The agency continues to have happy customers because they strive every day to exercise the principles in their Mission Statement, which reads:
