Absolute pleasure to meet Cassandra at Parliament. She will save lives by telling her own personal story and raising awareness through this.πŸ™β€οΈπŸŒΉ

β€œThe thought that we could live in a world where cervical cancer is no longer a threat to health and lives is an amazing one. The HPV vaccine and cervical screening could help make that a reality. The year I was diagnosed, my daughter had the HPV vaccine. It made me feel much safer that she’s had this and her risk of going through this is much lower. If I could stop anyone from going through what I did, I would. Lots of people have said to me that they don’t want to have their smear test for whatever reason. We must raise awareness of how important this appointment is for those who have had the vaccine and those who haven’t. It’s not easy for everyone but can help save your life.”

β€œIf I had left it even a few more months, I might have been in a really different position That's why I'll be supporting Jo's Cervical Cancer Trust during this campaign, not just for me or my daughter but for all women and girls."

Cassandra shares her story of being diagnosed with cervical cancer when she was 35 and what ending cervical cancer means to her and her daughter. During Cassandra joined Jo's at Westminster to share her story and help us raise awareness of cervical cancer.

Did you know that mulitple countries around the world are aiming to eliminate cervical cancer within the next 15 years? Australia, Rwanda, and Sweden are all on track to eliminate cervical cancer in the near future by developing their HPV vaccine and cervical screening programmes, increased accessibility to these programmes, development of treatment for cell changes, and better cancer care.

NHS England recently announced they aim to also eliminate cervical cancer by 2040 but without government commitment to make sure these programmes are appropriately funded, resourced and staffed, the UK is likely to fall short of this goal.

The 22nd January 2024 marks the start of and this year we are calling for government action to help end . Ending cervical cancer means committing to tackling inequalities in cancer prevention, innovating for the future, and making sure those with cancer are not left behind.

Join us and find out how you can get involved in πŸ‘‰ https://bit.ly/3GniyD5

Ambers Story

Why do we exist as a charity?

On 8th January, 2017 Amber tragically passed away as a result of cervical cancer which spread to her lungs and throat, Amber battled her illness for 4 years.

Amber repeatedly attended appointments with concerns, but unfortunately nothing was picked up until Amber attended a private smear which subsequently lead to a diagnosis of stage 2 cancer, Amber underwent gruelling chemotherapy, radiation and many other surgical operation.

Ambers Law was set up initially to lower the age of cervical screening invites, as this policy change could have potentially saved Amber.
Today we aim for better education around signs and symptoms, improvement of health services and better statistics on screening uptake, only 1-3 women take up their appointment when called for by their GP which is a hard statistics to swallow knowing Ambers plight for treatment.

The HPV vaccination roll out has been the biggest development in the area of cervical cancer, however our question remains...what happens to women who fall outside of the NHS policy of 25 to 65 years?

If you are due your smear and are lucky enough to be invited (yes I said lucky) go and get it done..it's a test that could potentially save your life!

Please don't die of embarrassment, book today ❀️🌹
