super fun gig last night with at the in Union, playing some of our fav fusion burners. .quinn and Danny Pagan always bring their a games and are a joy to work with - always. :) the rig includes OB6 Pro 2 and P12, a Sub 37 for bass and Livetrack 12 mixer with my trusty K8.2 monitors.

Happy birthday to the great Jan Hammer - a huge influence on me way before Miami Vice was a thing.

The Mahavishnu Orchestra; the First Seven Days, the Jan Hammer Group, his work with Jeff Beck…

His soloing and comping and records like “Spectrum" are masteclasses in musicality.

Jan’s also the reason I took a 15 year detour into the world of the ‘keytar’ (I still dislike that word), trying to channel guitar sounds and styles will still playing keyboards.

His synthesizer programming in the early days (72-80) was ground breaking, combining Moog and Oberheim equipment in ways I still haven’t totally sussed out.

And his soundtrack work has a singular vibe - there are many standout tracks from the aforementioned MV soundtrack.

Tomorrow in Boston I’ll be performing with the Mahavishnu Project @ The City Winery , playing Birds Of Fire and few select Jeff Beck tunes. I’ll also be doing a little solo piece by Jan from 1974’s "Like Children" cd.
