Time for Spotlight #62, featuring Dale Milanowski and his front engine dragster! Dale has been racing for 55 years, but has coming to Great Lakes Dragaway for over 60 years, as he grew up at this track before being able to drive. Dale's favorite racing memory is a case of perseverance, as one day, he was racing, and his thermostat was stuck on this dragster, causing a coolant line to blow right in his face during the race! He somehow avoided missing the wall, and when he came to a stop, the paramedics were already on site. They asked if he was alright, and Dale said "yes". The paramedics responded by saying "good, because we aren't!" Dale's racing goals are to keep racing and to keep having fun while doing so!
This front engine dragster was originally built in 1962 but has seen different owners and setups over the years. Dale was originally racing with his friend, and decided to purchase this frame so he would be able to build his own dragster. It only had a frame and wheels when he bought it, so Dale proceeded to build everything up himself. His most special memory with this vehicle was one day, someone in a Corvette challenged Dale. They lined up, and Dale beat him soundly!
We wish Dale the best of luck moving forward, and we hope you continue to have fun doing what you love!
